A second look at Rec soccer?
A second look at Rec soccer?
Here is some beginning math:
At U11 there are 68 teams between LH,PPL, & APL, lets figure 16 players per team = 1088 players minimum.
3 yrs academy at $1500? yr = 3x$1500 =4500 for academy per player 3 yrs
8 yrs club at 4500 yr? (includes gas/travel/equipment) 8x4500=36,000 for 8yrs
= 40,500 per player for 11 yrs of 'club soccer'.
so.. each year of academy we spend 1,632,000 as a group
and each year of club we spend 4,896,000 as a group
Total for all of us for all 11 yrs = $44,064,000
Maybe instead we should form a rec league (so the girls can still compete/make friends, learn all those valuable lessons), put all the money into a pot (instead of buying bmws for club coaches and owners) and at the end of each year award 40 million $ worth of scholarships to the U18 girls.
Maybe have a big party at the end of U18 for all the remaining players and have a lottery with every kids name in it and pass out 400 $100,000 scholarships?

A similar rumor surrounds some parents who understand the chance of playing college soccer with any type of financial assistance isn't great but like watching their kids play and be happy.

None whatsoever. You can't put a pricetag on elitism.

The clubs haven't diluted anything. The clubs provide a service for parents that have and will continue to dilute select soccer.

Quit being an idiot, you totally misinterpret the word "select". They "select" their teams from those parents willing to pay for coaching.
