LHGCL Spring Roundup
LHGCL Spring Roundup

Interesting format with 4 Wildcards going to the Semifinal round. It should be fun to see the multiple tie-breaker scenarios. One of these bracket winners will not be happy.

Re: LHGCL Spring Roundup
We originally planned the tournament for Friday - Monday. Due to numerous concerns about various schools opting to be open Monday to make up for lost weather days, we shortened the schedule to wrap up Sunday. This compression placed stress on field availability and most importantly, available referees on the holiday weekend. To open the tournament to teams we don't get to compete against week in/week out, we invited PPL and APL teams and committed to scheduling around their league games.
So, due to this compression and resource constraints, we were unable to field multiple flights which would have ensure bracket winners and potentially wild cards advance. We simply ran out of time (and resources) in the schedule between Friday and Sunday to field multiple flights - as it is, the last final games wrap up Sunday night @ 8:00.
Again, I share your sentiment and its definitely not what I envisioned when inviting teams to play. I truly believed we would have multiple flights to allow all winners to advance and to make for more equitable seeding as well. Though on the second point, 2 PPL teams tied 2 DI LHGCL teams last night; the girls and their families were incredibly excited. So there's some lipstick on the pig.
Finally, this opinion/explanation is mine as the tournament chair, not the league's or anyone else's, so if you have issue, please take it up with me.
Should I somehow develop amnesia and volunteer to coordinate this event again, planning for this resource contingency will be the first priority. It's my fault alone - I actively recruited teams on this forum in the expectation we would have flights.
I will be out @ fields all day today/tomorrow from 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 pm., so if you wish to visit in person, I'll be the guy in the golf cart.
Thanks again for your note and I'm sorry we've disappointed many of you in this aspect.

Sting Dunstan v. Celtic McCallum
Oklahoma FC v. Andromeda Powers
Interesting final 4.
Looks like Sting got in with 1 more point than both FCD Premier 03 & Fever--who tied for Group A.

Yes. A shootout.

Re: LHGCL Spring Roundup
Sting Dunstan is just faster than Celtic and connects many more passes. Seemed a matter of time before they scored.
Okla FC is HUGE...every girl it seems is long, and their Defense wall is tall, taller and tallest. It seemed pretty even but Okla FC scored a pretty goal on one of the few good chances of the day. Andro had some chances but didn't find the back of the net.
Two decent games considering the howling wind.

Re: LHGCL Spring Roundup
Great back-and-forth game and a very physical game. Oklahoma FC tied the game, 2-2 with two minutes left in regulation to send it to overtime then Sting Dunstan scored in extra time to win a thriller, 3-2. Congrats to the girls on both teams because they all played their tails off tonight.
