4th annual Dallas International Girls Cup 2014 Accepted Teams

Texans won't risk local non-ECNL team winning DIGC. Bad enough Tophat won last year, but at least they're an out-of-state team with a stellar rep. So it doesn't hurt business at all. But you can't allow a local non-ECNL club the chance to build a rep on the back of your premier tourney. Not good for business. Sorry Kicks.
Feet may still be an option.

Well said...I have been enjoying reading the comments on this post over the past few days, but this took a left turn I didn't expect. Hug it out boys and chat about the tourney.

Here's a start...Anyone remember when the brackets came out last year? It's Me had a little sniff earlier, but I am thinking that was an example of what COULD be rather than any info...

In my mind the top seeds come from the ECNL teams the local ones (Sting, Solar, Feet, Texans) and World Class...with Texas Rush (if that is indeed their ECNL team), and NJ Stallions, which gives me 7 for 4 or 5 brackets...my guess is 5 brackets of 4 teams. Despite some talk of home cooking for the Texans in the past, I don't see any reason that they would need to do that to garner a top seed...as a matter of fact, all of those teams cold be positioned to advance without much question. The killer is going to be which of the top 7 are in a bracket with another, thus hurting their chances of getting into the round of 8. The shock to me would be watching 3 of them in the same bracket, thus effectively keeping one of them home...

This I will say about the tournament is the 00 division looks more like a national tournament than the 01's. The 01 tournament just a bunch of local teams. Coming off last years smash hit, it seems to have fallen fast.

WC should be the top seed.  Their record vs top competition around the country has been much better than any of the local teams.  Follow them with DT, Feet and Solar then mix one international team per group.  Follow that up with remaining ECNL, Out of State, and then LHGCL.  Gives every team four game guarantee with a max of seven games and at least one game versus an international team.

I was putting this together while you were posting, but I was coming to the same conclusions... except I did it with 5 brackets of 4 teams, but would LOVE to see the 4 brackets of 5 so that everyone WOULD get to see a true international...

What you see is ranks (in my mind with what little info I had on some teams) clubs broken up, and 2 NTX teams and 2 travel teams per bracket.

I don't know about Rush, The Internationals, and the NM teams are a best guess...

Competitive tournament is not the issue, the top 5 teams get tired of beating the brain out of each other. League play has just started already beating the brains out of each other, and then 2-3 week a after this tournament we will meet again and continue to beat the brains out of each other. The reason we sign up for a quote unquote national tournament is to beat the brains out of other clubs and countries, not our own league teams.

Sure there are internationals, but do you remember how well internationals did last year? 0 wins. I do agree with you on Jacksonville though.(The only out-of-state team)
Gone are all 4 semifinalist from last year.
Field doesn't appear to be as strong as last year, IMO. I do however, like the spin you put on it though.

Plus the extra $350 dollars to get US club roster that is no longer needed.

According to their rules, there may be 4 groups of 5 teams.


9.Each age division will consist of 4 groups of 4 or 5 teams per group. The 1st and/or 2nd place teams in each group will advance to the knockout stages.Teams that don’t advance to the knockout stage will play friendly games after the group games. This is subject to change depending on the total number of teams registered per age division. Placing within groups after group games will be determined by points. If teams are tied in points within the groups, the following order of tie breakers will apply:

Super cool. I am unfamiliar with the tourney, so I just was looking at what many tournaments here do. I think 4 groups of 5 would be awesome. I will go back and reconfigure later.

Here are some adjusted brackets to look at...I used the Got Soccer national ranking for all non-ECNL and International teams...then fudged to even up travel teams, break up clubs, and keep D1 and D2 teams from playing each other. For ECNL teams, I used the local standings, and for the NY and NJ teams, I just figured they were right there...BTW, if we wind up with 4 games, will that mean we will play on Thursday, 2 Friday and probably 1 Saturday right? which would allow for a Quarterfinal on Saturday, then semis and finals on Sunday??

Good work dad - I would put Classics Elite in the 9,10 or 11 range. Premier League team that is solid. We beat them 1-0 in the last minute or two of the game and they lost to pulp 2-0. I would not put them at 11 since they would end up playing another TXS team, so,I would put them at 9 or 10 and move Missimo and/or Andromeda down a spot. I think everything else looks good, so don't expect the brackets to look like yours   

Cool, and I agree, probably won't look a lot like this, but that will give us a chance to dispute their brackets with our immense knowledge and clear, level-headed analyses. Lol
And further, you are right about classics, we played them at Michael brown and lost 1.0. They are a pretty solid group. I feel like anything after the 7 seeds is more about evening the brackets giving each a D1 Ntx team and 3/4 a d2 team, keeping the nm and stx teams apart, and avoiding doubling up stings and Solars. You are right though, their history probably puts them at 10 or 12. They possess the ball pretty well and play a nice style.

Sorry, I'm really late to this party. I can't say I like the bracketing but I think you're correct. I really don't think the ECNL teams should be in this tournament but I understand why they are especially if they are going to use the tournament to use their expanded rosters. I applaud the big clubs (except FCD) for trying to come together and make a big destination tournament for girls soccer in Dallas. DIGC is too close to California state cup so you'll be hard pressed to get the Cali teams to come down though.

As far as I know, DGIC is divided up into essentially two pieces.
1. Jr ECNL Event for ECNL clubs only except out of country teams - u12 and u13
2. Normal entry/acceptance based tourney - u14 and above

#1 speaks to why Kicks, Pulp etc were not allowed in the tournament at u12 or u13 since you can only be designated an Jr. ECNL event if you abide by whatever rules ECNL says you must abide by http://www.eliteclubsnationalleague.com/jr_ecnl/index_E.html. Space permitting Kicks, Pulp etc would be allowed to play up in the u14 and above portion of the tourney because the u14 and above portion of the tournament isn't governed by ECNL.
