I noticed on NTSSA website that 2014 tryout dates are posted but unconfirmed. I see where 98s to 03s can tryout but I don't see anything about 04 tryouts. With ODP having initial 03 tryouts last year, I would expect that the 04s can get their turn this year. I know last year was out of the norm by having both the 02s & 03s tryout for the first time. Was this a misprint on NTSSA website or are they not wanting academy players in the ODP pool?

From what I saw, combining 02/03 was not really a good idea. I think ODP may have decided not to combine the age group again. However, your DD should be able to try out even if she is not 03. My DD tried out year earlier, and we had no problem registering her for tryout.

Another issue is with letting 03s in this year (or 04s next) is that you can have older academy aged girls practicing/playing with girls that are playing select. It's been a tough road for my dd. She's only now starting to catch up. With her playing the typical Sunday academy league, there have been a few practices missed too.

Still don't regret having her try out though.

I thought they did it because the 03s as a group are very talented...most of them could outplay most 02s.

Lol... I heard there were lots of talented 03's but I think we have equal talents pretty much every year.

Funny and I hear many of the REALLY talented 03s didn't even show up  :afraid: 

Just wait until those SUPER talented 04s get into the mix… I suspect they will just bypass the really talented 03s and and the very talented 02s and go straight to play with the regularly talented 01s…

Well it looks like NTSSA updated their calendar to include '04s in ODP tryouts.

I'm glad they're letting the 04s tryout. Maybe my DD know a player or two and will like going to practice a little more, if only for a year.

Last year they had two tryout dates in Aug and one the week after Plano tourney in Sept. Not as many league conflicts but wander how many were on vacation when tryouts started.
