Best Academy team of all time??

Who has had the best academy team in recent years?
I know I may have left a few off, these are the ones I've seen or can remember.
Of course, it goes without saying that the Purple Ponies reign supreme.

Kicks are too young into academy career. But in a few years they will get my vote.

All jokes aside, we all knew the Rowdies coached by DM never lost a game at age - no matter the year, team, or sport.

004tulsa, I agree Kicks may be early in their career, which is why I was hesitant to include them. But after a win against the top ranked team in the age group ahead of them, I decided to. Don't remember that ever happening.

Don't think 05 team top totally settled yet and top team in younger age group always competitive with top 5 older.

Top team in 05 certainly up for debate. But top RANKED team(fbr) is not. And I don't think that's ever happened before. BW can correct me if I'm wrong.

Are you asking has a team from a younger age group beaten the #1 team from an older age group before?  I believe the answer is "yes".  I want to say that '01 Bates beat '00 Pulp in a Spring or Summer tournament when Bates was U9 and Pulp was U10.  Someone else would have to confirm.

Since I've been on the boards with the '01's, SRSA '03 was the most dominant academy team in their age group, and I think they also had more national success than any local team in that time frame.

I know that '99 Rowdies had a pretty stout reputation, but they were before my time on the boards, so I can't make a fair comparison between them and SRSA '03.

Kicks 06 is a great team but I seem to remember them getting Completely Dominated by Sting Diaz a few weeks back. I would say Rase 04 is the best I've Seen & I'm not a LP guy at all. Those Girls can move that ball.

Have they played up on a regular basis? Do they play boys? It's gonna change so much in the next couple of years they may not stay together. I've watched them play and y'all are a quick, skillful team but best ever? 

Would be interesting to compare SRSA and RASE's last season in the boys league. Win percentage etc.

Futbollove isn't a Kicks parent. Last I checked at least.

Kicks 06 is average at best, nothing to see here, move on. I hear 99 Rowdies were the bees knees!

I seriously doubt OP is a Kicks parent. As a matter of fact, I know he/she is not. Yes Kicks does up, plays boys. Always has. May have played 1 season with the 06's. But no parent on our sideline believes they are in this conversation. These kids have so many years ahead of them and are only concerned with getting better and enjoying one another as teammates. Do they want to win, no doubt about it. Is their goal to be the best academy team ever, never crosses their mind.

If you remember domination, then you must not have seen the game. Or don't know the definition of dominate.   

Rowdies 99 were the real deal. Had the best academy player ever, bar none.
SRSA played the best brand of soccer I've seen in academy. They also had the players to play that style.

Definitely since I've been  around its srsa 03, but I never watched 99 texans. Since that team won surf and put a girl on the national team with several other big time players...gotta give them the edge. 

I've seen rase 04 and I don't think they are in the league with these other teams. Srsa 01 in their heyday would've given them real problems..just don't have the athleticism as these other top teams and many of the boys teams are weaker than top girls at that age. There were several 01 academy teams as strong as rase 04. Kicks 06 way too young to even be in the discussion of best academy all time.

I think I can comment on this thread since I had a dd on two of the 5 teams.  Yes SR 01 beat Pulp 00 in a summer tourney.  It was 1-0 but we connected on our only shot on goal.  It was a fantastic shot though.  Pulp controlled the play but they didn't have many shots on goal either.  We went on to lose 2-1 in double OT to SW Adams in the 00 final.  Those were fun games to watch.

I was told to go watch this 99 girl play and so I did twice.  I was amazed at the total package.  Speed, strength and vision.  Best player I had ever seen around here by far.  The second time I saw her, she was man marked by two players with a third behind her.  

I would say Rowdies 99 followed by SRSA 03.  SRSA put the petal down from start to finish and put up big numbers.  They were special also as a team.  

Besides SR 01 academy, my other dd is Kicks 06.  This team has alot of talent but to be in this thread is laughable.  They are just U8.  If they were U10, then you could look at the past.  Kicks 06, like SR 01 won't but up big numbers because it's not the coaches style to win big.  I will say Kicks 06 played up last fall in 05 gold and started slow and got better every game.  It's the same as this year.  You have to adjust to the speed and physical play.  They started out slow again and have got better each week.  Other teams can score from 25 while the younger team needs to work the ball in more...lol.   I would say Kicks 06 has large upside as a future select team because they are very talented and are playing possession at an early age.  

I haven't seen Rase 04 play so I can't comment on them.

I didn't say all are weaker...I said many. Most times it's the top 3 or 4 boys teams from usually solar, andro, texans or fcd that are stronger than the juggernaut girls academy teams. The top girls develop earlier and are typically bigger, faster and stronger than most other boys. Every year is different, so hard to make too many generalizations, but I watched rase 04 playing a boys team last year and I remember thinking the boys team looked rec.

I remember back in the day Srsa 01 played a top boys texans team and they had some boys with real speed and physicality...looked like future running backs. Srsa gave them a game because they were on the same level athletically with just as much skill (maybe more)...think they lost by one goal.

All I'll say is it's real interesting looking at the TBPL results from this year and last year.

Ok my son played against the 99 rowdies team and I dont really recall them doing much against the top 10 boys teams. They had some great players but the soccer was obvious and direct and the great players couldn't overwhelm the boys. SRSA has the resume and was a true super team. Bringing in players, strengthening the squad, creating a fight to make and stay on the team. RASE is a very good team and is on pace to do much better than SRSA did against boys. This is largely do to style of play. RASE lacks the resume to be above SRSA (no surfcup no nothing really) but hopefully will start to accumulate that. so 99 rowdies has the best players, srsa has the most complete collection of talent and resume. Rase has the best soccer
