D2 Champions: Sting Parker or Mustangs Bussey?
Team ---------------------------MP----W----D----L----GF----GA---- Pts
1: MUSTANGS 00G BUSSEY....17.....14.....1.....2.....32.....10.......43
2: STING 00G PARKER..........17......13....3......1.....9.......4........42
Each team has one match left:
Mustangs v FCD-E
-Mustang just beats everyone except Parker and they control their destiny-- they win, they're IN! BUT...
-FCDE is the 3rd highest scoring team in D2 (26) and been hot this spring going 6-0-2, with its only losses to SG and Sting P.
Bussey has too be a wee-bit nervous for this match... FCDE is in a zone, and Bussey hasn't been quite as dominate only scoring 13 GF and giving up 5 GA.
Sting P v Sting-F
-39 GF and 4GA against are insane numbers! However, each GA has caused 3 ties and 1 loss.
-Sting F has shown some life this season , going 3-1-4. I suspect no CPP players for Ferretti this week!
The best outcome (for spectators)is a sting tie and rare mustang loss, so we get to see a playoff to decide the D2 championship!
Who is the champion!!??

And Mr(mrs?) Bunny:
- If SCP wins and The Bus trips up w a tie or loss, SCP will win outright 45 to 44/43
- If SCP ties and Bus loses they will be tied but SCP holds the head to head, winning both, which will promote SCP.
- If The Bus wins, they're in.
That said, Bus has proven the most consistent week in and week out. IMO, that has kept them most deserved to this point. Big Blue, (and your mention of 4 goals against could be haunting) has had some untimely giveaways.... Tie to the Westies, a tie to Premier, and a loss to SG last second could be a nightmare for Blue when generally speaking they are the much better team.
I think both teams and coaches deserve much kudos and respect for the work they have put in and for what they've accomplished. Honesty, I don't know who is "more deserved". They are very different teams.
But in the end, Bus has the magic on a weekly basis and they deserve a ton of credit.
My prediction: Bus by a point.

Actually for promotion there would be a playoff game.
Bussey controls their destiny. While they haven't been scoring as much this spring, they have still been winning, except when they play Sting. As long as they bounce back from this week and stay composed they should win out. How will they play under the pressure to win? They needed to win the last game at the end of last season to move to D1 and had a major stumble.
Both teams have had a great season and I agree they both deserve kudos and respect for their season accomplishments. Almost a shame only 1 can go to D1.
Interestingly the difference in goals for/goals against for these two comes down to the fact that Sting really has Bussey's number. If you were to remove their games against each other Bussey has 32 for and 5 against. Sting has 34 for and 4 against. These 2 teams play everyone else in the division fairly evenly, but head to head Sting has it. They definitely are 2 very different teams though with very different styles.
Good luck to both!

(1) If there is a tie in Division Champion points that will affect which team gets promoted to Division I and/or relegated to Division III, only head-to-head competition will be used to break the tie. If two teams are tied in head-to-head competition, a playoff game will be played between the two teams to determine who has earned the right to be promoted into Division I or who has to be relegated into Division III.

Got it! So IF Sting ties and Bussey loses Sting will go.

I predict Bussey handles East. East will fold under the pressure cooker of trying to unseat the division leader and play spoiler. Bus 2-0; maybe 3-0

Maybe, but east seems to have found something lately. If they can hold off bussey until late, the doubt will creep in for bussey. I think sting cp rolls over ferretti...and I could see them take the division by a point on a bussey/east tie.
If bussey can shake the ghosts of seasons past and relax and play they win and take the division by a point. I actually agree with you on result. I think that unless bussey gets hurt in digc they will relax and play since that competition will force them to bear down and play fast. If the game slows down for them vs east they win.

Gold v Navy: gold bounces back and finishes with 2-0 win
Feet v North: 0-0 as feet is desperate for some result
Westies v Premies:the premies close it out 1-0
Big Blue v Ferretti: 1-0 BB; lack of motivation
The Bus v East: the yellow dog rolls into D1 3-0

Net,
My dear novice-prognosticator brother or sister, where are you getting 2-0 or 3-0 for FCDE-Mussey? Forget playing spoiler, FCDE is motivated and playing for 3rd place. I promise you, it's not lost on FC's coach that top 1/3 of D2 looks considerably better than "middle of pack". Check their numbers:
4: FC DALLAS E: 10-1-6. 26 GA. GF 20. 31pts
One doesn't just find 10 wins under a log! Let's dig a little deeper..
Spring Stats:
FC has 15 GF, 5 GA this spring.
Mussey: 13 GF, 5 GA
Granted 6 were scored against DTFW, but one has to assume 12-13 GF in 8 matches is equal to what Mussey has done against the same opponents (side mention: Mussey scored only once against DTFW in 2 matches this season).
-Spring Records:
FC: 6-0-2,
Mussey: 6-1-1
-FC has fared better against Sting P this year than Mussey (FC: 1-1, 1-0 vs Mussey: 3-0, 2-0)
Bussey is clearly the favorite, but this is not the same FCD team that struggled in U-13 and early last Fall, so therefore I must report the news early and go with the upset (until I change my mind next week).
FCDE over Mustang Bussey, 2-1.
-Congrats to a Sting P for moving up.
-Congrats to the rest of us that get to see a new rivalry in D2 next year!

Re: D2 Champions: Sting Parker or Mustangs Bussey?
I would not say my prognostication is novice in the least. In fact, I think I'm quite consistent with outcomes.
Let's have a friendly wager my dear eater of the carrot: when The Bus moves on up you can by me the adult beverage of my choice. And should East play spoiler then I will gladly return the favor.
Now before you accept my gesture, please remember East got throttled last time they messed with the yellow dog.
Now, let's see.....
What shall I have to drink...?

I like your confidence in the Bus! The question is, will the Bus bounce back after a rough DIGC? They have been in front for nearly the entire season I can't help but hope they can finish the season strong. Good luck to all tomorrow.backofthenet wrote:Too presumptuous, It's Me
