Odd Invitation

My husband had a text from an individual this week that was a bit cryptic. Said "I am the manager for *****, Coach * (Initial only) wanted me to invite your dd out to practice. We practice ****." We didn't know who it was. We asked what team... they just said club name and age (01, my dd is an 02). Asked again who coach was and where they got my daughter's info, etc. They told us coach name (I don't know him..guess because my dd is an 02). When I said I was interested in finding out how they heard of my dd and if they were interested in her as keeper or field player (she does both), I just got the response ... "why not show both and she what he says & what she is comfortable with."

Is this odd? Is there a list or something they get people's name's from? I don't know anyone associated with the team or coach? She hasn't attended any camps or anything with this club...well, any camps at all lately.

Just wondered where they may have gotten my husband's cell# and if anyone has had a similar experience. Thanks!   

Parents.

Mostly it's parents, friends, other players. Many parents scope out the games. Coaches are willing to let that info go as well. Not many but some. My DD is a keeper and we have received several calls from various coaches or managers over last year or so (she is 05). It happens. If they want or need a keeper they will do anything to see if she wants to change teams. Make sure to get all the info about team and coach and try out a practice. If you are happy then tell them so. Stay where you are.

If your kid was out at any of the ECNL practices, then someone who knows your daughter could have pulled your information from that sign-up sheet.  This is not the first time that has happened.
