Yes, very good game to watch. Seemed a bit short though. Especially the 1st half, only 15 mins by my clock. Interesting that TUT only has the u10 group playing 20 min halves. Nice goal scored on a corner kick. This will be a great rivalry in the future.

I thought it was very well run and the games were fun to watch.  Even though we had no semi-finals and finals or the move to a knockout round, the results were very telling. Was a top 10 team exposed?  And was another held off from taking the top spot by a 0-0 tie?

Interesting.

Did you watch the game? The ball was on one side the entire game. Stacking the box will only get you so far.

Nice tournement. Very weird format. TD made a few mistakes in scheduling as proven by some of the results and the short 20 min halfs were a bit strange. I would agree the Aztecs got exposed by solar. Seemed like they were just over matched.

Very surprising that Sting Scarfone earned a draw against Solar, even with the mini game format. By far the best result in a long time for Scarfone's 05's.

Over all a good tournement. Solar & Sting Diaz still the Class of the 05 age group. They both play a pretty style of soccer.

Friday night's 20-minute halves were absurd, especially given the combined size of the field and players.  That it directly impacted the result of Pulp - Diaz, however, is debatable.  The only goal came on an opportunistic corner in the first three minutes of play.  Following that, scoring chances for either team were basically nonexistent.

I did hear that Aztecs were missing a critical player at Tut, but, even so, their result against Pulp was surprising, to say the least.

I wasn't able to see any of Scarfone's games, but they appear to have had a great tournament.  Congrats.

As for the "class of the 05 age group," I see several teams very close.  I think there are 7-8 teams, in fact, that can win against anyone on any given day.  I do agree, Thunder, that style of play, even at this young age, matters, and the teams I see moving the ball around the pitch with purpose and intent are much more enjoyable to watch.  While I personally like the short passing -- read: possession -- game, the most successful teams are tactically adaptive.

It'll be a lot of fun watching the teams, and players, in this age group continue to grow and develop next year.

To comment on the Aztec/Solar game...I realize it is unreasonable for 9 year olds to have a bad game; could explain the 0-0 tie for Solar/Scarfone game as well. Any given Sunday the results could be different

I do agree that a team can have a bad day and have seen this happen many times in my experiences in sports. However, having a bad day usually does not result in a 5-1 loss. I watched the majority of this game as well from a distance I might add. I saw a difference in talent on the field. Solar was playing at a different speed and looked to never be at a disadvantage. This game didn't look to be just a team having a bad day. More of a team being over matched. I have always looked at the Aztecs 05 group as a top 5 team. This came as a big surprise to me. This Could be attributed to the lack of play against Quality competition for the Aztecs, or as BK mentioned, not having some players that make a big difference.

Scarfone is always an interesting matchup for Solar.  They play very defensively and rely on the breakaway for scoring chances, which they get 2-3 times a game.  Pulp likes to attack and move the ball, which they do very well.  Having so many people in the defensive 3rd gives Pulp fits sometimes.  But once the team adjusted, they peppered the goal with 20+ shots in the 2nd half compared to the 1 or 2 chances Scarfone got.
