Totally! He was making a huge impact for Brazil and will definitely be missed. Here's to a speedy and complete recovery.

Could be good for Brazil in the long run. If Brazil beats Germany or plays well without neymar, it confirms the scolari way and probably is the end of joga bonito for a long time. Neymar and possibly Oscar are the only two that play with the flair and creativity Brazilian attacking players used to be known for.

If OTOH Brazil is ripped apart by Germany, you have to think Brazil will reassess and turn away from trying to copy the Europeans and go back to their roots. Chile and Columbia looked like the old Brazil, and if either of them had gone deep then South American style soccer would make a comeback and the dunga/scolari way would be be on the back foot. The dunga/scolari camp won't produce the neymars of tomorrow,so will good for them to see what they can do without him.

Am I the only one feeling a bit ashamed this morning b/c my first reaction to the play yesterday was "Gimme a break Neymar!  Another flop? Seriously?"  

Seriously... Hope for a full and speedy recovery.

It like the boy who cried wolf...he flops so much that nobody believes him when he is actually injured.

It didn't strike me as Neymar flopping any more than is usual for him. However, to be fair, both sides were doing it in at least equal numbers, not to mention that some of those "flops" were actual knocks. It seemed like everyone was on the floor.

While agreed, Neymar was a top student in the Italian art of flopping school, the film of the hit is hard to deny. At least in my view, the knee to the back was intentional and could have been avoided.

It really did not appear any worse than so many of the other hits players from both teams were issuing. The real problem was the referee. He was rewarding the floppers with fouls calls and when there were actually hits that should have been carded, he refused to go to his pocket. Cards for flopping and for violent hits prevent injuries like these.
Never want to see a player injured, but if you believe in karma Neymar was due.

The only way Neymar would be "due" for that is if he would have previously run fast and jumped and kneed a guy in the back, causing a broken bone.

For all we know neymar's vertebrae could've already been weakened by the years of airborne butt flopping he performs nearly every game. He did try to stay on his feet more early in the world cup, but I guess he saw it paying off for others and couldn't resist. His diving didn't have much to do with it.... Ref let too many James muggings go.

Wish him a speedy recovery with no long term effects.
