This was a lot of fun for our girls to play in...  it was put together well.  Unfortunately for the teams that would normally play in Silver, being bumped up to Gold was a real challenge.  Our TX Spirit 04 Red girls (The Bomb Squad) that played today got to see up close the DT South girls (Texas Twizzlers) and one of the better Sting (4KICKS) teams (never got to play DT Scott/Stark girls (Turtle Power)).  They got to play 6 games today so definitely got our money's worth.  Although they came in fourth behind DT Scott/Stark (Turtle Power), DT South (Texas Twizzlers) and Sting (4KICKS) - unsure which team so won't make assumptions - they gave awesome effort and did all they could to make the games competitive.  There was a little frustration with the lack of calls made by the refs so some of the plays seemed to get unnecessarily rough - almost reminiscent of a hockey game going into the boards, but I blame the refs, not the players...  the players will play until a ref blows the whistle or warns the players so if that doesn't happen, pushing in the back, elbows, extended shoving, will all take place - play harder and harder until a ref tells you otherwise and that's what the girls did.  Kudos to the girls for recognizing it and playing it to the limits.

Will do this again and hopefully a better turn-out so there can be true Gold, Silver and Bronze divisions.
