Yeah, this is what rec leagues do.

Most select games I have watched are not that bad.
You may have a few that are "vocal", but nothing like rec soccer.

The quote in the article;
"Fred Engh, president of the National Alliance for Youth Sports, said earlier that he never had heard of a game that required silence on the sidelines."
Makes me wonder how this guy got his position as president. If you have not heard about this before in youth sports you do not have enough expereince to be president of some alliance.

The parents tend to be worse at younger ages and often in rec. When you don't know the rules you are more likely to be upset by what is being called or not called.

Or maybe parents just realize after a few years its just better to enjoy the game rather than get caught up in all the stress.

A match behind us last weekend the parents were coaching their kids from the sidelines - I think it was an 04 Girls match and at least two of the parents were actually coaching, not cheering or encouraging, coaching... we only turned around cause we thought we were on the wrong sideline to watch our own match...  it was crazy...

Maybe the parents knew more than the coach.

The sad reality is when they get to HS this is a common occurance. Yes at a basketball game someone from the stands had to yell to start fouling so they would get into the 1 and 1 before time ran out among other cluelessness.
