SDL 11v11 league

I noticed that SDL has an 11v11 league for the 06s. Are there any teams planning to register for this league?

Ridiculous having 11v11 for 06s and is finally being addressed by NTX soccer. Trust me, it's too young for most kids to be playing 11v11 at this early age.

How exactly is it being addressed by NTx soccer? Can anyone force the leagues & tournaments to only play 7v7 @u9, or 9v9 @ u10-11?

Every year I've heard the same thing from NTx friends that this year, the state association is doing something different. (at least it's not 4v4 to 8v8 to 11v11 like OK).

I suspect this is under 9's not "06's . Trips me up every time

I think they are same group. 06 age group is playing u9 this year. In the fall, they will still be 06s, but will play u10.

Nothing has been mandated by NTX. It has been widely publicized that US Youth soccer will be mandating it... No date has been published. Suppose to be small sided until U13.

United States Soccer Federation (USSF) reigns over organizations including US Youth Soccer and US Club Soccer
- US Youth Soccer is over NTSSA
- US Club Soccer is over PrimeTime and SDL

US Youth Soccer and NTSSA rules and playing format mandates do not affect US Club Soccer

If USSF mandates changes, then US Youth Soccer and US Club Soccer will have to fall in line

So, with all of that being said...is anyone in the 06 age group going to sign up for this?

U9 is probably too early for 11v11, but NTX isn't going to change their U11 rec divisions anytime soon. Classic leagues and Premier leagues won't change either.

It is in writting that US Soccer will be mandating small sided across the country for 12 and down. Only question is when will this take place.

You will still have your US Club run entities that im sure will offer the 11v11.

My question is why would any parent want it...

Supposedly, with the switch to small sided, there will be a switch to pure age (birth year, not school year), as well. My understanding is North Texas is looking to do it within the next couple of years.

US Club Soccer is a fan of small-sided.  At PrimeTime Sports, our PTCL, TGPL, and TBPL academy leagues feed teams into the competitive leagues in NTX.  We offer 11v11 in leagues and tournaments at U10, because many coaches/teams want it to prepare for Boys and Girls Classic leagues, PPL, and APL, who play 11v11 at U11.  If those leagues plan to wait a year or more to implement 9v9 at U11, then coaches/teams will still want 11v11 at U10 in Fall 2015.

Our Fall 2015 academy leagues will offer options to teams, so that they can best prepare for whatever competitive league they are aspiring to in Fall 2016 and their playing format.  That being said, we are starting our own U11-U14 competitive league in Fall 2015.  We will wait until USSF makes their decision about mandating small-sided and playing by birth year before we announce our playing format.  Serious consideration has been given to playing 9v9 at U11 and U12 in our league in Fall 2015 (regardless of USSF mandate or other competitive leagues in NTX) IF coaches/teams want it.

What does age pure mean versus grade year?

Colleges recruit based on grade year correct? For example, the 2015 class signed letters of intent last week.

I believe he means calendar year.. Like ODP, and the rest of the world.

This is a suggestion. If you want to attrack teams for this new league then I would suggest giving them something they cant get elsewhere. The classic leagues are going to stay 11v11 for as long as they can, if the changes are mandated.

Its not even debatable that small sided is the better way to go for development. So offer up an 8v8 or 9v9 league for the Select ages.

US can mandate all they want, but this insanity all started with rogue leagues that formed to give the consumer what they wanted. If you wish to play 11v11 their will be a u-12 and bellow league certified or not that will have it.
