WELL!!!  Gotta say I cannot remember this much belly aching about something out of "everyone's" control.  No matter who said what, the fact is mother nature this year said "Not this time"  NJ did everything she could to get the 8 games in.  FYI - SDL came to CFBAL first wanting to merge, however they wanted to increase everyone's league fee over 350.00 per team (How much bashing would you have done then?) That is probably the main reason that SDL is in the trouble they are in.  NJ is doing this for the kids and it's not the money.  It's laughable that certain folks in this forum can bash this league/person anonymously and have NO solutions.  Are you working for SDL???  Sounds like it!  My team & I understand the predicament NJ was in and we applaud her for having the soul & character to do still this.  We'll come back to this league as long as it is run/directed by NJ  because there is NO other league even close to this one for competition, diversity and communication!  Cool

Turf field / installation / drainage runs about $1M

Playable it is
Beautiful it isn't. In many places its like playing on a waterbed!

Have to agree with Impact, I have been involved with Several leagues in north texas and once we found Nicole we never left. NJ has always gone above and beyond the call of duty, No mater the club or situation. She has shown time and again that she truly cares about the kids and works her tail off to do everything she can to provide a great environment for the teams in her league. No one is perfect but she will work herself to the bone to try to make things right. Nicole is A+ in my book and we will seriously miss her next year when we move on to Select. (Or better yet, maybe we can bring her with us!)

Rubber Turf field are great, except for 2 things! they are at least 10 degrees hotter to play on in the Summer because the rubber soaks in and holds the heat & they are not as forgiving where injuries are concerned therefore they contribute many more injuries. Yes they are built to drain quickly and they look great (Both my son's play & practice on them) The initial cost is really outrageous and only if you have big bucks can you afford to replace them when needed - ONLY at FCD! I have no position either way - just found it to be interesting.

And if there is a danger - any more than the pesticides and fertilizer used on the grass fields?

Artificial turf that uses infill made from recycled tires (“crumb rubber”) contains a cocktail of toxic chemicals, including benzothiazole, carbon black, and heavy metals.

Well, RASE elite had 3 games rained out this past weekend. It is supposed to be sunny and no rain this weekend, yet, RASE only has 1 game scheduled do the entire weekend. That's one way to get make ups done

Field space - Availability With rain forecasted for all this week it will be a miracle if anyone gets to play this weekend despite the sunshine because there will probably be too much standing water.... I'm going fishing!! lol!

Duped wrote:I have spoke to representatives at each of the other two leagues (Primetime & SDL) and both have indicated that they are nowhere near capacity.

I was just on the schedule sites at SDL, TGPL, and PTCL.

Below is a snapshot of the current standings for TGPL and PTCL U10 Girls' Divisions.  The last games that show up on the schedule for either TGPL or PTCL were on 4/26.  No future games are showing up as waiting to be played.

05 Spring 2015 - UAL (I still call it CFBAL) League List - Page 4 Tgpl10

For SDL, I went through the individual schedules for the 16 total U10 Boys' teams in SDL this Spring. SDL definitely has done better in terms of getting games in. 11 out of 16 teams have 8 games scheduled (although some have games scheduled for this Saturday, which is no given at this point), 4 out of 16 have 7 games scheduled, and 1 team only has 6 games scheduled. Then again, SDL has 16 total Boys and Girls U10 teams, vs. 57 total for Primetime and 151 total for UAL.

So... these leagues were "nowhere near capacity", yet still have not been able to provide 8 games (in the case of Primetime, 20 out of 26 teams didn't even get 6 games) to all of their teams.

So please explain to me again how the size of UAL caused a problem that Primetime and SDL would've clearly been able to solve this Spring if either of those leagues had additional teams in them?

Thanks to the rain, teams playing in multiple academy leagues at the same time, and Spring tournaments, it was impossible for any league, ours included, to play 8 games for every team. We have tournaments in May, so our leagues ended April 26th. Some of our teams got all 8 games, many did not. We feel Nicole's pain. After a dry Fall 2014, where we did not have one rainout, this was an exhausting Spring 2015.

Our league rainout policy gives teams a credit of 12.5% of their league registration fee for every game missed due to rainouts. If a team played 5 games, they missed 3 games and now have a credit of 37.5% of their Spring 2015 league fee. Teams can use that credit toward the registration fee of any of our tournaments or leagues between now and May 2016.

Here's to a dry May.
