UT vs Monterrey Tech Game 2/19 on Long Horn Network Empty UT vs Monterrey Tech Game 2/19 on Long Horn Network

For any old timers out there, Big Boy's DD played 100% in goal last night for UT.  Woot woot.

In addition to getting to see one of our NTX keeps in action, very interesting watching the Monterrey Tech style of play.     There has been lots of talk and pontification regarding ball handling/foot skills vs brute-size force/kick ball.    The Mexican team's style of soccer is possession, ball skills, lots of small passes in the back, with a slow work up to the front.  They made very few strike attempts on goal, but were usually at least on frame when they did strike.   They did pass-play a little in front of their own goal which made me cringe because with less skilled players or players less familiar with their team, a great way to get scored on or even score on your own team.  To be honest, a little boring to watch if you are watching just for the adrenaline/excitement.   But, and this is key, this was a very effective approach for Monterrey.  They usually rebroadcast the UT games and highly recommend giving this game a watch on the Long Horn Network.
