Congrats to those two! Awesome accomplishment. IMO if you are of national team caliber, you should be playing up at least 1 year for development.

Any insight why NTX lag behind in the national level for older ages while outstanding in younger ages? Anything wrong with our development compare with California?

I'm not yet willing to concede NTX lags behind at this age group. I think national pool selection is such a crap shoot...a lot of it is playing well at the right time when the right people are looking.

Another huge part of it is birthdates...for example, one of the Bethesda players made it. DD's team has played against them and we've watched them multiple times. The player that made it is awesome...but she's playing up and the younger sister of another kid on the same team who is even more awesome (IMO)...older sis birthdate is like Dec 30...a few DAYS before the cut-off.  I think a lot of NTX stud players in the '01 age group are Aug to December birthdays of '00 calendar year, so they don't meet cut off for this group that will be prepping for u17 WC. I think this is the reason ussf has talked about adding more national teams, so fewer players fall through the cracks due to birthdates and relative age effect.  

I don't think if you lined up socal vs ntx top 50 players, using school year cut off, there would be much difference in talent level...but take that FWIW as that's just me talking based on what I've seen...and I'm a admitted homer.

Recent rainouts and inclement weather made me realize what an advantage SoCal has.
