Re: NTX vs. STX
As we went through the process, travel was explained to me in this vein. The top teams from NT WILL travel. They will travel alot. Whether that be Premier League, National League, ECNL, Showcases etc etc. They will travel. At some point, they have to learn how to do that. Sleep in a hotel, eat properly and adjust to the excitement of out of town play. As they get older the trips get longer. I remember asking our coach why are very average D1 team was traveling to Vegas to play in a tournament against top SoCal teams and others. He explained that part of the process is the experience of "going to work" while on the road. Not to be intimidated by other teams, locations or venues. If your first Showcase is in Vegas against SoCal Blues at U15 and you have not traveled at all, you have ALOT of challenges to overcome. We did that at U12 and U13 so when we did it at U15, we'd "been there done that" and the focus was on the game, not Vegas or the Blues.
At 07, you are team bonding. Parents get to know each other and kids laugh and have a great time hanging out in rooms and think they are all big stuff. Eventually, some of them might become big stuff but all of them will have great memories. It's not about the competition.

Very good answerDDdad wrote:IN GENERAL, the competition is weaker in ST. As the girls get older, you will see some teams that can compete better but it is a year to year or team thing. You can certainly get better and playing people you do not know is helpful as they may play different styles. Not sure at '07, I'd venture much further than Austin if at all.
