You all have been helpful, so I have come to dip in the well again.

Any tips on preparing to play, before and during tournament, in Denver altitudes?

As an example, we are getting somewhat conflicting info on what to do if daughter has trouble adjusting. One doctor says sea sickness medication while the other says altitude.

Thank you in advance.

Couple years ago I heard the team that won the ECNL event up there went up several days early and trained each day to get ready. I'm sure a parent from that team can provide some details. Sorry I don't have more details. Also Hydration is uber important too as the dry air sucks the fluids out of them!

It will affect different kids in different ways. Some won't really be able to tell a difference and some will find the change very difficult. Getting there a couple of days early is always helpful and will aid in adjusting - but overall it is not as drastic as some would lead you to believe. However, those one or two kids that can't catch their breath or get altitude sickness will beg to differ.

We went to Denver/Colorado Springs a number of times when my dd was playing select.  As was stated above, it affects kids differently, but really isn't anything to be afraid of.

Now the grass fields with fairly tall grass slowing the ball to a crawl, now there's something to worry about.  Smile

not much to worry about. best team will win. now if one assumed that the altitude only affect one team, lol, the change would make a bigger difference. both teams are affected. its just that one team knows what to expect. how would we ever be able to compete against those super humans when they come to dallas? Smile just having fun. please! no hate mail
