Re: How should LHGCL end the season?
There is pretty good separation between #10 and #11 for DI - top 10 to DI
Also a decent gap between 17 & 18 in DI, and between 3 & 4 in DIII - relegate 3 and promote 3. To account for excess relegation this year, next year promote / relegate 2 teams between DII and DIII (or, promote / relegate 1 team in the Fall, then again in the Spring).
Too close to call between 5-8. First, play any games remaining between these 4 - that might provide one team enough points to get a bye, or one that doesn't have enough. Then play remaining games that involve those remaining with a chance to earn a bye.
This would eliminate about 32 games and should leave 5 or fewer to be played.

Re: How should LHGCL end the season?
Now, my question is how are decisions being made for the allocation of those fields? Full disclosure: I don’t have an 04 DD so I am just looking at schedules. I don’t know anything about these teams. A quick glance at the U11 schedule for this week indicates that 6 games are scheduled for tonight (on turf!). How were these decisions made? I suspect the schedulers have the same access to insight as I do and therefore, no specific thought or emphasis is being placed other than let’s play the games. Someone last week pointed out that the point spread is already pretty clear. Teams 1-10 look to have solidified the D1 spots for next year. There is a possibility for the # 11 team to move up but they would have to win at least three of four of their final games and they will need help from teams currently sitting in 9th or 10th.
What I cannot figure out is why certain games are getting priority and other games are not? With a tornado threat tonight and a severe thunderstorm headed this direction, I don’t know that any of these games will be played.
The bigger issue with where we are in the season is this: bye fees are due on June 15th, many teams are posting for players, other players are already reaching out to new teams and will be attending open practices in 6 days. Not to mention that school is already done for a few private schools, other districts finish this week and the rest on June 5th. Camps are scheduled and paid for and it is a fact that as of next week, all teams could have players missing. It seems that it may be time to find an alternative way to complete the season. One previous poster has talked about doing a point system based upon percentage of games. I don’t know that this is “fair.” Other age groups have teams who are still missing 5 games but sitting in last place in their division. I don’t know that it is “fair” to cancel all their games but playing all 5 may not be necessary either. Teams who have nearly a 1/3 left of their season are going to be playing in June without some of their team. This is also not “fair.” The reality is that life is not fair and all teams should have completed all games. However, at some point, there MUST be an emphasis on playing games that really matter towards league standings. There has to be a better way to prioritize. How about we begin by:
• Scheduling and playing out games that affect teams who will be requalifying as this decision is the one that affects summer scheduling
• Schedule games which affect promotion
• Giving all teams within a division the same number of games (in case the season is eventually cancelled)
• Finally, schedule games to determine Grand Champion and division winners (in case this has not been already decided).
Regardless of how it is done and what decisions are made, there MUST be a deadline for completion of the season. June 1 should be the final date of play. Use every field and referee available and get the games completed.

Re: How should LHGCL end the season?
why not just play the games that affect relegation from D1 to D3 and the games that affect D3 to D1 and D3 to QT? There aren't many D3 games left and not many that would affect D1 to D3. Keep the 20 team supergroup, promote the 2 D3 teams to D1 and relegate the bottom 2 D1 teams to D3.
Agree with Fly as families are already taking vacations that are out of school already, so teams are already being negatively affected (know this is already happening in several cases).
Vacation doesn't apply to my family as select soccer already takes over any discretionary spending in our household

Re: How should LHGCL end the season?
"The Classic League is diligently scheduling make up games so that both the Classic League and Challenge games are completed by June 8th, if possible. Initially, we planned that all would be completed by June 1st, but this weekend's rains prevented that from happening. ALL teams must be prepared to play within 24 hours notice ( NO exceptions), as we continue to slide the schedule day by day. We are not in a position to change game times, fields or address any conflicts moving foward. Any games that prove to be inconsequential to the final results will be removed from the schedule due to field and time constraints. If a team chooses to forfeit, there will be no further penalties, but we ask you please notify the office immediately so that we may notify the opponent and the referee crew."
