Does Lake Highlands matter anymore

Is it better to play on a tournament team and do a lot of showcases or be in lake highlands and play only a couple of tourneys

LHGCL is not worth it and is getting worse as your DD gets older. Showcase tournaments, high school, and scheduling friendlies is more productive.

It won't be long before LHGCL pulls up so many teams to increase or maintain revenue that you will only need to pay your fee to play. They are just one more bad decision away from another group taking over. Your top 5 teams from D-1 from u-13 and up will soon be leaving. Ecnl I'm sure has plans to create a second division and begin to take teams away from LHGCL as early as u-13

If your team plays 6 showcases a year and plays in plano or Arlington are the colleges coaches going to say when you write them this kids team plays in Plano Im not going

Better yet, do you think college coaches are coming to see your DD play in a LHGCL match?

No but they are going to think when they go to see them in a showcase that they havnt been playing at a high level of competition

Just finished up a year of doing a few decent showcase tournaments (WAGS, Mid-America in Indy, Germantown in Memphis, plus the usual ones in TX).  Not once when I was speaking to a coach at any of our games was I asked any of the following:

1) What league does this team play in?
2) What division in that league is the team, and will you keep a BYE for next year?
3) Does your daughter play in High School, and will that team compete for a state championship?

The questions asked were:
1) Who is that aggressive left footed girl in the middle?
2) Are all the girls on this team juniors, or do you have younger kids on the roster?
3) How are you liking the weather here in _____ compared to Dallas?
4) Is the parent for #___ here, so I can ask about her intentions for college?

And comments like:
1) Our school is known for (insert program here), in case any of your girls are interested in going to school for that.
2) I like the fitness level of the girls on your team.

No coaches I personally spoke with (probably not a huge percentage of those present) showed any concern for where the team played.  Most didn't even care much about the "team" in general and were there to take notes on the individual girls and how the performed on the field against other girls that are all there trying to play hard to impress college coaches.

This doesn't mean that LHGCL doesn't matter, but it has little relevance to college coaches that I came in contact with.  It may be something that is a consideration for a tournament director when trying to decide which showcase group a team plays in, but the coaches at that level are smart enough to judge talent that is in front of them.  (You can also make this exact same statement about high school ball.)

That has always been the case. The parents are what give LHGCL the importance.

LHGCL needs to clean up their league. The focus has changed! Clean up the fouling and the illegal play. Make it so that the higher lvl players see it as a benefit to play and develope rather than just a bunch of hacks running around acting like its their World Cup.

Or just clean up the league so that developing players can develope and play rather than getting the shit kick out of them by players.

Or maybe it's time to let the big clubs do their own thing and start promoting the indy's in Dallas.
