Seriously - the deadline is July 17th and the accepted teams list gets published on the 18th? This makes no sense - why not publish an accepted teams list before the registration deadline? With two competing tournaments the same weekend (Andro & Primetime), potential teams want to see how things are shaping up before registering. Common sense dictates that coaches and managers have some idea of the competitive balance & number of teams in an age group before before signing up. See Dom's post over at Primetime; they use the accepted teams list as a promotional tool. C'mon Man!

No doubt and will not even respond to PMs on the subject about a specific age group

Applied teams list keeps changing by the hour. For us it does not make sense to give you a list that will not be valid within an hour. Our tournament has been in existence for ten years and a better barometer is for you to look at past tournaments to see the kinds of teams that have participated over the years. To us that makes more sense.

Little effort...one time... to open up the Got Soccer applied teams list..you don't even need to publish the link, people will find it.....then those people can check it whenever and often as they wish with no work to you... but you knew that. Those tourney's with published lists typically...on the girls side at least... get a much better turnout. My dd got started at Ayses, so a big fan of the club, always talk it up, but this particular thing doesn't make sense. My 2 cents.

Our 10 years experience so far has been different from what you describe. We have yet to have an issue with number of teams signing up. I am not saying that it could not happen, it just has not. We normally have to turn teams away in the end for the fields we have. Our experience is that the applied teams list is very dynamic all the way to the end and putting it out there sometimes creates an unwarranted situation where teams that would otherwise register without a problem hesitate to do so if they see no team or just one or two registered. I also see your point though, but I think ion reality it plays both ways. It can help some teams decide to register, but also can prevent teams that would otherwise register hesitate to do so. Our view is that 10 years of history is a better prediction of the kind of teams that sign up for a tournament.

Re: TEXAS SUMMER CLASSIC - REGISTRATION DEADLINE JUL 17
I can appreciate your stance, but I believe you're missing the point. Maybe 10 years ago, other tournaments didn't advertise the accepted and/or applied team lists, but most certainly do now. Heck, 10 years ago, I finally broke down and bought my first cell phone (the awesome Motorola Razor). Now, both my girls have smart phones, and we use teamsnap, gotsoccer, venmo, etc...it's called technological change. As the manager for two teams, I'd be willing to bet that more teams would sign up for your tournament if they were armed with pertinent information such as competitive level. The only barometer I have for your tournament is a one-year old bracket that doesn't include any history for my DD's '06 age group (U10G). I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.musaisaya wrote:boilerjoe_96 wrote:musaisaya wrote:4 DAYS TO REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Your points well taken. We embrace technology. We were actually the first to introduce online check-in to my knowledge. As I stated, our experience so far has been that we have had no issues with number of teams signing up. If that becomes an issue, then we will adapt. If after the registration deadline, we have spots still available, we will extend the registration deadline, if not then we will close the registration deadline and only accept teams to fill spots. We evaluate our experience after every tournament, and if we feel that we need to start publishing accepted teams list, then we will make that change. For now, based on our experience, it is not something that we feel we need to do.

He never had a problem in the past to share applied team lists via PM so the coaches or managers knew if it would be better to play up, play same age or look for another tourney.
I was with Aces (now NTFC), sorry.
