age pure team.

So what teams are going to start having tryouts for there so called Age Pure teams.

I believe this is for 06 and under.

so what if you were born in Sept 04 and currently play on an 05 team. Is that now an 04 team?

I feel for you guys. Ya'll haven't even played a league game yet and are already talking about tryouts.

When age pure happens, current 05 / U11 teams will be 2004 teams - since that will be the birthday of the oldest player.

Players born in 2005 would **presumably** have choice of staying e current team & playing up, or going to 2005 team. That **could** mean doing QT again next summer if age pure change goes thru in 2016. U.S. Soccer not requiring change until 2017 but NTX can choose to do it earlier.

why would most play up in select? this should blow up most teams

Current 06's who were born in '05 can't move to an '05 team because the rules don't allow them to play up the first year of select. If my daughter's team doesn't choose to play up next year she is left out in the cold.

They can't play up right now. All of this will change NEXT season.

I wonder if this exact question is one of the reasons NTX is still working on details of a plan to transition to calendar year age.

Seems to me it work best if there's at least a one-year change to the rule banning play up from U10 (academy) to U11 (select)

Next summer IF U11 is 2005 age pure, players born in early 2006 could have the option of going select with their '05 teammates, or joining a team that's 2006 age pure and playing U10 again.

I could see players choosing both options, depending on individual circumstances.

thats what our coach told us, looks like our team has voted to play up if/when this comes down

Correction. You can't play up your last year of academy. Once you are U11. (Your 1st year of select) you can play up to whatever team will take you.

But to clarify, NTX and the Select leagues are discussing the play up rule going forward and my hunch is that next year when 2005 birth years go select as u11, 2006 birth years will be allowed to play up. But all that will be finalized in January

I applaud any that all just stay together and play up their first year.

I just dont think it will last long, coaches and teams want to be playing at the highest level possible. players that belong at that level will want to be at that level.

If a squad made up of just kids in the same grade level based on current age divisions can hang and plat at the top level.. well that is just awesome and I hope them the best...

what is more likely to happen though is the best players will be picked off by squads/coaches with an older roster and better shots at playing and staying at the top.

There just is physically and mentally a big differnce between a kid born in January 2005 and say April 2006 at this point in their lives...

once we hit u15 and up... game on, puberty has hit, lots will have quite the sport.. and the ones that remain can either play or cant play...

I cant wait for all the "looking for players" post that will pop up in June 2017... we complain now... just wait...

once the dust has settled after Year 1... that will be where we see massive movement...

I'm with you atp. I have a feeling the the early 06's say they will play up but last minute decide not to. They could always play up a year later and skip a year of select and not academy. They will still be playing 9v9 anyways so to get 11v11 tactical mumbo jumbo is out the door.
