Re: PPl D1 v PPL D2
RFC Black won the old D2 but they were one of 7 teams that pretty much all tied each other in the old D2. So they promote RFC Black from a top 30 league up to the top 10 PPIL league and AYSES Gold gets relegated from D1 down to D2. The competition committee botched that one. AYSES Gold made it into the second weekend of LHGCL QT where RFC lost every game the first weekend. Funny stuff.
I do agree that there are some solid teams in D2. I actually don't think there's a whole lot of daylight between LHGCL D3 and PPIL D1/D2 and even a few teams in APIL.

Re: PPl D1 v PPL D2
15 in D1
8 in D2
10 in D3
Are they going to relegate 3 teams next year to get to three divisions of 10?

Next year:
DI - 9 teams
DII - 10 teams
DIII - 10 teams
Bottom 8 in DIII this year will be relegated to qualifying, and will compete with other teams for 4 slots.

5 teams would have been relegated under the old rules, but now 3 more due to the excess number of U12 teams

Not normal at all this year. The teams that win LHGCL D2 and D3 this year will not automatically get promoted a division up. They will go into a play-in tournament. Here is how it works after this season.
U12 DI = 15 Teams
1st thru 8th place earn a BYE and remain in DI
9th thru 13th place earn a BYE and position in DI pool playoff matches
14th and 15th place earn a BYE and move to DII
U12 DII = 8 Teams
1st place earns a BYE and position in DI pool playoff matches
2nd and 3rd place earn a BYE and remain in DII
4th thru 6th place earn a BYE and position in DII pool playoff matches
7th and 8th place earn a BYE and move to DIII
U12 DIII = 10 Teams
1st place earns a BYE and position in DII pool playoff matches
2nd place earns a BYE and remain in DIII
3rd thru 10th place do not receive a BYE and must re-qualify There will be 4 open spots for DIII in QT

Unfortunate that LHGCL chose not to reward teams who earn promotion next year, by instead rewarding teams this year who did not earn it.

RFC did win D2 as you stated. RFC lost to Sting Harr by a goal this last week. Not a terrible start to D1. There are potential worse teams in D1 than RFC. I also believe they have built a pretty solid team over the summer and are just trying to put the pieces together. All teams have bad days/weekends in reference to the tournament statement.
Not knocking the AYSES Gold. AYSES seems like a good organization and have really nice fields. Maybe they should be in D1. They lost in the semifinals @ the Texas Summer Classic. My DD team lost to AYSES Gold on an own goal.
I'm not stating the division is correct or not correct...it is what it is. Time will show what teams will need to move up or down. There was a lot a movement this summer and I personally think a lot of teams have changed starting all the way up at LHD1.
Wish all the girls playing the best of luck and hope everyone has a great season.

It's interesting that you know so much about the RFC Black team? If you would have looked a bit further, you should have discovered they only lost 1 game last Fall/Spring seasons combined (pretty sure my facts are correct). We are talking about 11 and 12 yr old girls - and for you to call the RFC Black team out and say they don't belong is pretty low. Currently they are tied for 3rd in PPL1 and won the Bob Wiseman Tournament Gold division this past weekend. So, in my book, they are right where they should be. Spend your time and effort elsewhere.

I never said they weren't a good team. Plenty of good teams in PPIL. I'm saying that their play in LHGCL didn't warrant a promotion from D2 to the new D1 while a team that was in D1 and played well in LHGCL AYSES Gold was demoted from D1 to the new D2. Congrats on your wins this week. Looks like the bulletin board material that I provided helped to fire everyone up. A simple thank you would suffice.

So did your team earn a reward/promotion this past season that they did not get?
