The one you are referencing was the Solar\Lightning 00 game. The Lightning goalie was carted off for a head/neck/back injury. She was unable to move her upper body thus the call for ambulance. Thankfully she is doing well, scans came back good no fractures, etc, just very sore. Thank you for inquiring.

There was not a stretcher or ambulance involved with the fracture. 60 minutes no fouls and 2 kids carried off the field... 1 not to return in one game in the afternoon. Head injuries, breaks... when are refs going to call fouls to protect the girls? yes it's a contact sport, but good soccer can have rubbing and aggressive play without all these injuries.
I heard the ref's were gonna start taking more charge this year and issuing more cards. Guess not. Hard to change what has been the rule for so long.
Doing the right thing must be very hard. Why does the NFL (I think they call it American Football...not really sure ;-) management want to dodge and minimize the whole brain injury issue. Shameful, but it's all about the $$$ as most things are.

Even when referees do call fouls, there is no guarantee these things won't happen. Unless there was malicious intent to injure another player, can't we hold off on putting this on the referees shoulders?

I thought I saw it was the keeper as I was coming into our 4:45 game. As a keeper parent myself, I hate seeing keepers injured. They have a special place for me.
Rough play? Collision? Fluke?

On a separate note...Most of the games that I have seen this fall have been reffed pretty well. The couple of instances where there was an issue resulted in cards. I personally agree with most of you that calling a tighter game would be better, but refs who control a fast, physical game are commendable as well.
Godspeed in healing the girls from this weekend. I know I was a little panicked when my dd went down in a heap at PLD. Not a dirty play, just a tough tackle, but watching the dd lay down after a collision is always scary. We have enough legal collisions without the bs. Just keep the kids safe. Injuries will happen with hard play. Hate the flashing lights after one that could have been prevented with a yellow that makes a kid think about endangering another.

But then again, big, fast, aggressive and unskilled is the NTX way to win....which is why we have so many elite players from NTX. (sarcasm there, folks)
How do you shut down a player with superior skill? Knock 'em on their butt every time they come near the ball...don't worry - the ref won't call it. And if they do call something, they won't card you for it.

While I don't disagree with you in a general sense...not the case here. The young ladies were both just playing. I know our coach reached out to theirs yesterday to check on her...and I will also say this...
We lost a player to a broken ankle in a game against Aztecs in PLD. She is out for the season, and it is a big loss for us, but the Aztecs GK came over AGAIN to say how sorry she was about the injury and to check on our player when we played them this past weekend. To me, it shows a lot of class by that young lady, and I appreciate her concern.
Also, shows that the girls can play hard and NOT want to hurt each other...injuries will happen as a part of the game, just get rid of the blatant, dirty stuff.
