Thanks. And the '05s she currently plays with will have to go select, correct?

Read LHGCL's announcement. Pretty straight forward, 2006 born players repeat U10 Academy next year. 2005 born move into Select. Grouping go by oldest player on the team. Byes stay w/ the clubs, move up just as they do now.

LHGCL announcement even refers to it multiple times.

Hoping they move that date to June 1. Sure would help families/coaches out planning on summer, etc. Think, if you can sign on June 1. Take the month of June off and come back in July to prepare for QT/Season.
Anyone know the reason why we have July 1?

Since teams are often playing in May, current contracts expire June 1st. You can't even practice with another team without a release. June 1st-July 1st is the only time players and clubs have the chance to look at roster/team changes. A June 1st signing date wouldn't allow for those possible changes to happen.

Correction- Contracts expire June 30. June is just "Open Practice" month. You still need a signed release to guest play in June.
Otherwise, I agree that you need the month of June to see your options. July 1st isn't the issue. It's seeding tournaments and qualifying tournaments are too early. No matter when new contracts are signed, these tournaments will still be scheduled right after signing.

Permanent going forward.. Coaches can now speak to players about playing for their team "next year" .
