Brown vs. Chelsea looks to be the game of the week, with Brown looking to hold on to its D I spot and Chelsea looking to make a run for the #1 spot. How many dual or CPP's make an appearance for this one?

Brown in their last few games played some close games against the top teams (Elite and Parker); winning one and losing one 1-0.

Give me Brown to win 2-0.

With there being a big ECNL weekend in AZ this weekend, would say Brown will win this game. Most of the CPP and dual roster players will be sitting out the games on Wed and this weekend.

With the ECNL players unavailable this weekend it should be an interesting game for Solar Chelsea vs Solar Elite.

Arizona will impact all teams utilizing ECNL players. So I think it is going to be interesting all the way around. Cool I think this will be a truly interesting weekend indeed for the final games of the fall season.

It's a shame the ECNL girls have to go to Arizona. Wouldn't they benefit more by staying home and "playing up" in LH? I'm surprised the Coaches would allow this. Isn't it going to hurt their development?

I think what IAKM was replying to was InaB's comment about not being able to use ECNL players impacting all teams.  It will only impact the teams that use ECNL players.  i.e. Solar Elite, Solar Chelsea and Sting Parker.

Without the ECNL players it will give the rostered girls a chance to play and develop as they should have been doing all season.

But wait, I was told recently (here in another thread)...that we should all stop bagging CPP abuse because we are lucky that our lowly dds get to compete against the best (even if it is the same kids weekly on different teams)...

So wait, this week it may be just my dd...and the team she signed with in July...against another team that actually signed together in July...without any help...playing the game they love...and we didn't have to play rec...

Oh the humanity. It is gonna be hard to watch them dribble the ball the wrong way out of bounds and pick flowers if there are no REAL soccer players out there.

Well, from posts here recently, more than the three teams mentioned have used or are using dual rostered and/or cpp players, including Sting Brown and Solar Gold. So there will be a lot of teams impacted this coming weekend on both sides of the fence. And, yes, it will be interesting to see how play goes for all teams. Best of luck to everyone.

Wednesday Night Lights - D1 Games Empty Re: Wednesday Night Lights - D1 Games

Post by maggiemae 11/11/15, 06:23 am

I think we've already seen what happens when the CPP/Dual rostered players are unable to play...

Historically Solar Chelsea Elite has been a strong team which is why it was shocking to see them resort to such unsporting antics.  Parker has been playing this game ever since they landed in D1 so it isn't surprising, just more of a continued disappointment. The coaches should have a little faith in their girls since both of these teams can & should stand on their own. Now Solar Hopkins history shows a team that struggled to stay in D1 and probably would be struggling still without the help from their ECNL ringers. I was privileged to see a couple of minutes of their game on Sunday against Sting Pat.   Both on & off the field it wasn't the same team faced Andro the week before. Even the parents recognized it as was shown in the cheers of relief when Solar scored on a last minute penelty. The final score 1-0.  Of course in that game they did not have the use of their ECNL national team goalie (by the way she is pretty amazing). I assume that for the Andro game the regular goalie was injured because she never saw the field.   Throw in a stellar ECNL defender and you've locked up the defense. Now for offense and the only goal...nah, I'll skip it.

However, these aren't the only three teams who hedge their bets.  Dad-0-3, fess up.  Haven't you used a superstar lately? Sting W? Sting F?

So, here are my predictions for this evening.
Three solid wins for Solar Elite, Andro & Brown. Two ties- Aztecs/Dallas Texans & Sting West/Sting P

Please commence the defense/justification of Superstars in pivotal matches. Let me help.
1. It's OK, they really are on the team, just look at the roster
2. All the other clubs are doing it so we have to
3. We have injuries and our bench isn't that deep
4. Because we can, we will
5. If you just look at it from a business perspective...
6. It's all about player development.  More touches are always a good thing.

Wednesday Night Lights - D1 Games Empty Re: Wednesday Night Lights - D1 Games

Post by dadof3 11/11/15, 07:21 am

Yup. We used 1 ecnl guest in 1 game this year (DTN). We have used CPP in other games, but always from our d2 team and once from an 01 team when the d2 played on the same night (GK v Andro). Those done for specific help at a position that was injured.

Our reason for the ecnl player went beyond the one game (the plan was to have her travel to a tourney later and this was a rare break that she could join her old coach). And the fact that silver played the same night and we only had 14 healthy. She played well, but wasn't the reason we won that game.

One of my fears is that we will be forced to resort to that to stay competitive. I would rather play with what we have...and we will as long as we can...and develop the D2 players as well. We have 16 healthy right now and ONE game to play in fall. If we knew we were facing that from everyone else, I wouldn't worry.

We are offenders I suppose, but we try to play it straight...knowing you can pull CPP at signing at SG means that you can sign two fewer players (more game time and development) and pull from Silver when you lose a few players...that is the CPP that makes ANY sense to me, yet when we know we will be lining up against a stacked deck, it makes it difficult to avoid that scenario. To this point we haven't pulled the trigger on a mercenary scenario...and I hope we never do, but...we could...at least that is my fear.

Oh, and I will probably get torched for posting that, but I will tell you the same thing to your face if we meet, and I have said the same thing to coach...CPP can be used purely...but it isn't always, and that is a problem. If we couldn't have pulled an ecnl player for the one game we did, we wouldn't have. She knew the names of all but our 3 new signees before she walked up to the field...because we have been around her at camp for years.

I think the point is that this coming weekend will be a test of a lot of teams. Whether you ordinarily have dual rostered players, cpp an ecnl player already dual rostered to another team, normally have dual rostered players, this weekend should be interesting. Again, best of luck to all teams.

MaggieMae just to let you know Sting Ferretti has not used CPP this year at all and we have no dual roster players. All players on our roster are the ones we started with from the start of the season and only play on Sting Ferretti.

And before this conversation totally runs amuck, I want to give a shout out to Sting Patulea. Their placement isn't nearly indicative of their play. They fight hard and play tough. As can be seen in their games, they are continuing on an upward swing.

Solar Hopkins has used dual rostered ECNL players in two games.  They lost one of those games and won one.  Throw out the game they won with the ECNL players and they would still have 18 points in only 8 games and have one of the fewest goals against in the league.  If you consider that struggling than you must think that the 9 teams below 18 with 2+ more games under their belt are dead in the water.

The fields at Lewisville are redolent with the voices of players readying for the field of battle. The teams are at the ready, the whistle blows and the battle begins across the fields.
