With the ECNL players unavailable this weekend it should be an interesting game for Solar Chelsea vs Solar Elite.

Without the ECNL players it will give the rostered girls a chance to play and develop as they should have been doing all season.

Re: Wednesday Night Lights - D1 Games
So wait, this week it may be just my dd...and the team she signed with in July...against another team that actually signed together in July...without any help...playing the game they love...and we didn't have to play rec...
Oh the humanity. It is gonna be hard to watch them dribble the ball the wrong way out of bounds and pick flowers if there are no REAL soccer players out there.

Re: Wednesday Night Lights - D1 Games
Historically Solar Chelsea Elite has been a strong team which is why it was shocking to see them resort to such unsporting antics. Parker has been playing this game ever since they landed in D1 so it isn't surprising, just more of a continued disappointment. The coaches should have a little faith in their girls since both of these teams can & should stand on their own. Now Solar Hopkins history shows a team that struggled to stay in D1 and probably would be struggling still without the help from their ECNL ringers. I was privileged to see a couple of minutes of their game on Sunday against Sting Pat. Both on & off the field it wasn't the same team faced Andro the week before. Even the parents recognized it as was shown in the cheers of relief when Solar scored on a last minute penelty. The final score 1-0. Of course in that game they did not have the use of their ECNL national team goalie (by the way she is pretty amazing). I assume that for the Andro game the regular goalie was injured because she never saw the field. Throw in a stellar ECNL defender and you've locked up the defense. Now for offense and the only goal...nah, I'll skip it.
However, these aren't the only three teams who hedge their bets. Dad-0-3, fess up. Haven't you used a superstar lately? Sting W? Sting F?
So, here are my predictions for this evening.
Three solid wins for Solar Elite, Andro & Brown. Two ties- Aztecs/Dallas Texans & Sting West/Sting P
Please commence the defense/justification of Superstars in pivotal matches. Let me help.
1. It's OK, they really are on the team, just look at the roster
2. All the other clubs are doing it so we have to
3. We have injuries and our bench isn't that deep
4. Because we can, we will
5. If you just look at it from a business perspective...
6. It's all about player development. More touches are always a good thing.

Re: Wednesday Night Lights - D1 Games
Our reason for the ecnl player went beyond the one game (the plan was to have her travel to a tourney later and this was a rare break that she could join her old coach). And the fact that silver played the same night and we only had 14 healthy. She played well, but wasn't the reason we won that game.
One of my fears is that we will be forced to resort to that to stay competitive. I would rather play with what we have...and we will as long as we can...and develop the D2 players as well. We have 16 healthy right now and ONE game to play in fall. If we knew we were facing that from everyone else, I wouldn't worry.
We are offenders I suppose, but we try to play it straight...knowing you can pull CPP at signing at SG means that you can sign two fewer players (more game time and development) and pull from Silver when you lose a few players...that is the CPP that makes ANY sense to me, yet when we know we will be lining up against a stacked deck, it makes it difficult to avoid that scenario. To this point we haven't pulled the trigger on a mercenary scenario...and I hope we never do, but...we could...at least that is my fear.
Oh, and I will probably get torched for posting that, but I will tell you the same thing to your face if we meet, and I have said the same thing to coach...CPP can be used purely...but it isn't always, and that is a problem. If we couldn't have pulled an ecnl player for the one game we did, we wouldn't have. She knew the names of all but our 3 new signees before she walked up to the field...because we have been around her at camp for years.

Solar Hopkins has used dual rostered ECNL players in two games. They lost one of those games and won one. Throw out the game they won with the ECNL players and they would still have 18 points in only 8 games and have one of the fewest goals against in the league. If you consider that struggling than you must think that the 9 teams below 18 with 2+ more games under their belt are dead in the water.
