Solar is getting another stockpile of girls. Don't they have enough 07 and 06 teams already? Don't quite understand the move of bringing on more teams.

Sad state of affairs. Coaches speak about wanting best for DD, but I guess it really is all about the money.

Why is that necessarily a bad thing?  Why would they be worse off there than anywhere else?  If a team/player/group of players want to go somewhere different than where they are, for what ever reason, why does that make for a "sad state of affairs?"

I don't know anything about where these girls are coming from or why, but in my opinion, the uniform they're wearing is of little consequence, if they have the right coach.  Conversely, if they have the wrong coach, the uniform really doesn't make any difference, either.

Quality coaching and pool training. Where your 06 can train with the best within the club frequently and be trained by other coaches within the club. Definitely increases development and allows for players the opportunity to move up within a club.

It will more than likely sort itself out and rebalance by the time select rolls around.

A glut of top teams/players within an age group at one club, usually means a hole exists at one or more of the other large clubs. If a club has multiple top 10 or top 20 teams in the age group, a pecking order will usually emerge, and the 2nd or 3rd team in that pecking order will often feel that they aren't "getting the love" from their current club, and will leave to go to a club where they can slide in as the "de-facto" (oh, yes, Gophers went there... affraid ) #1 team.

Seen it happen many times in many age groups...

I guess it can be tough on young girls and hard on parents pocket books if their coach has them associated with three teams in less than 6 months. Causes confusion, it is disrupting, and expensive. Not a parent choice to move but a coaches choice.

I assume if you're complaining, then your dd is involved. If you don't believe your coach is doing right by you and your dd, then I would suggest finding a new team/coach.

I don't think it is tough on young girls, when mine was playing club, she didn't care which club she played for.  She knew nothing about the club, it's goals, objectives, or the number of teams.  It was all about her coach.  It can be tough on parents pocket books to buy uniforms over and over.  I know that I wouldn't want to buy three sets of uniforms in six months, but I don't think it has anything to do with a club having too many teams.

Not sure why it's confusing (well maybe here, where everyone is trying to figure out which team is which) or disruptive (maybe for the same reason).

Good luck with it!

Generally I would avoid the team with too many players or pool practice with teams, since a player is just a player the coach may not even pay attention to each individual girl. Each player is special, good coach should know the player well for better development. With close to 30 players for each practice, coach would not focus on individual.

Are you directly associated with this team?  If not, then why do you care?  It has nothing to do with you.

If you are, then you need to step back, take an objective look, and ask yourself if this is really the best coach/team to be with.  There may be legit reasons for being with 3 different clubs in such a short period, and that's o.k. However, it may also be a big red flag.  Only you can decide.  You're the parent.  Make sure you are acting in your DD's best interest.

If you are on a different team at the club that is bringing in the "glut of new girls" (sounds like this is the case from the tone and wording of your original post), then you need to quickly realize the following...  NTX Club soccer is a BUSINESS.  There are very few clubs in NTX that will turn away teams wanting to join their fold.  If your original post is your way of saying that you are concerned that now your DD and her team have been knocked down the pecking order within your club, well...  welcome to a fresh dose of reality.  Now YOU have to decide if it's in your DD's best interest to remain with her current team and club.

Loyalty is a noble notion, but unfortunately, a rare commodity in NTX club soccer (or any NTX competitive youth sport for that matter).  The larger and more prestigious the club, the less loyalty to anything other than talent you will find (and that goes for the club, the coaches, the parents, and the players at those clubs).  The sooner you come to this realization, the easier you will be able to deal with any and all of these situations.

How many girls at one club is too many? Empty Re: How many girls at one club is too many?

Post by Lyin Ted 16/12/15, 11:18 am

All clubs are looking for a stud player all the time. Great players bring wins and some parents follow that with there pocket book.  Solar (Colvin/Charles) is smart to continue to keep on bringing girls out while they can. Once everyone is under contract it all ends. Most of the 05's are under contract. So, why attack the 05's hard until June?

My DD played for Colvin when there were 10 or less players and we made our move before the big pool training. That works better for us and my DD and she likes to be in a consistent roster that she can develop long term relationships with the girls. She also loves to communicate with the coach which is tough when there are so many players. Colvin trains South Lake Carrols Girls Varsity Team that has over 40 players on there roster. Colvin and Charles are a good coaching this type of training and it is normal day to day stuff that brings results.

It does blow me away how many DD's and parents are unhappy with the pool training situation at Solar and they stay and do not change teams or even look. They all used to make fun of Kick's doing it and say that they would never do that to there DD. If your DD is not happy and you keep them in a situation that it not good for them. I can only think that when puberty hits they will hang up the soccer cleats. That's a shame for many of those DD's with the talent level that they have.

As soon as my DD said that she wanted a change. I moved fast and it was the best thing I could do. She is playing her best soccer in years and loving the girls that she is playing with. For my DD its important to have fun and her performance on the field has improved because of it.

For PG...from Wikipedia:

In Greek mythology, Icarus (the Latin spelling, conventionally adopted in English; Ancient Greek: Ἴκαρος, Íkaros, Etruscan: Vikare[1]) is the son of the master craftsman Daedalus, the creator of the Labyrinth. Often depicted in art, Icarus and his father attempt to escape from Crete by means of wings that his father constructed from feathers and wax. Icarus's father warns him first of complacency and then of hubris, asking that he fly neither too low nor too high, so the sea's dampness would not clog his wings or the sun's heat melt them. Icarus ignored his father's instructions not to fly too close to the sun, whereupon the wax in his wings melted and he fell into the sea. This tragic theme of failure at the hands of hubris.

My DD looks forward to pool training. Training vs. players that have national team experience and training vs younger and older players. Experiencing the different coaches and their style of coaching has great value. I guess that does not fit all players and parents.
