Correct, high school trains daily with minimal two games  a week. Club practice reduced to once a week and mostly on the weekend.

High school soccer starts in early January and runs thru March i believe. My problem is my kids team isnt practicing at all or if they do, it is on a futsal court and no drills are being run. Just scrimmaging one another. I just was curious how other select team's practices are handled and if they run skills or if it is just a play date.

Yes, due to winter weather, many teams practice indoors but playing small sided games on a small field actually is a valuable thing: quick one-touch control and passing is a good skill to have.

They can practice "sending it" when they get outside!

You guys have it easy - we have three scheduled club practices a week and the occasional scrimmage. My dd is picking and choosing but cannot make them all. So we have the opposite issue - too much soccer.

Well you won't have to worry about too much soccer for long... in no time your DD will be in a boot, cast, brace etc sitting on the sideline watching.  Injury(s) waiting to happen...  Better keep those insurance premiums up, and make sure you have orthopedic surgeon on speed dial.

Comforting. I welcome suggestions for how any of your DDs are managing the pull from both sides.

You have to be realistic, and have your DD long-term best interest at heart.... The club schedule you outline is fine in the summertime.  Completely different scenario during the school year.  If your DD is like most North Texas girls playing soccer, she's pretty smart and taking a very heavy courseload.  Additionally, she' probably type A and stressing about her grades immensely.  Pile almost daily high school soccer practice (often on turf) and usually two games per week plus a few scrimmages and tournaments thrown in for fun, the DD's barely have time to eat and sleep at that point.

Personally would limit club practice to once or twice a month.  Perhaps, if there is a tournament or something coming up, go ahead and attend full club practice the week prior. Talk to the high school coach about having your DD sit out a couple high school practices and maybe even a game.... They could very well get a little punitive and bench her a game or two. But what price would she rather pay? Benched a game or two or on the sidelines for the rest of the season?
