Couple surprising results this weekend. Both Spirit teams look to have done well. Congrats.

Yeah, both Spirit teams did well this past weekend. It won't help them get into top 8 for the automatic bye, but maybe they can take the momentum into playoff to get that 9th spot.

Another surprise to the season is Texans Scott. They probably won't finish in top spot as they've played 2 more games than Elite, but they are making a strong case for the #2 spot, and will probably finish higher than their sister team from the south.

Race to avoid relegation is always interesting, and this year is no different. I think Solar, LP Owen, and the winner of Sting Hilton/Texans Red take the 6-8 spots.

No surprise about who will probably finish at the top. Biggest improvement over last year was Scott who looks to improve from 6th to possibly 2nd, and Solar who looks to improve from 14th to possibly 6th.

Too bad all this will be changed up next year with what I assume will be big shakeups going into ECNL and the first year of AP. How many teams will stick together? Any near the top? Will these byes all move to the '03s next year or will any stay with the '04s?

I know things never stay the same, but I will miss the current setup. Its been fun watching DD play all these teams over the past few years.

Agree, the teams will look a lot different this next year.  Here is my prediction for this year's final rankings. You are right that the battle will be for 6-8th spots (5 teams have a shot) to avoid the playoffs.

Out of those I see 3-4 teams going into the fall with a roster that looks remotely like the one from the spring.

A few more surprises this week - things are not so cut and dried anymore in the 04 age group... The Elite's tie it up, Kennington ties Odyssey, TXS ties Sting Hilton... No runaway scores in D1 anymore... looks like the last few months could be interesting while parents and players are deciding whether to stay or go, coaches are building their AP teams and disgruntled parents of ECNL teams try hard to decide whether they should run to other clubs where their darling Suzie might get a shot at riding the bench cause their current club has already told them they're not good enough to make the team their already on. Parents of 04 players are deciding whether to have their kiddo play up on their current teams or to be the older kid on an 04 team. This has the makings of a great reality show...

Looks like it might come down to tiebreakers to determine who gets bye and who has to go to playoffs. Interesting but in the end may have little overall impact due to everything posted above.

Looks like teams 1-6 in standings are pretty much set for the auto D1 bye
Teams 7-14 will have an interesting last 2 weeks as bye spots 7 and 8 are still up for grabs. Also some teams will be fighting for the remaining playoff spots. This is actually a very exciting season as every team has something to play for. It's to bad as it looks like many of these teams will change again next season.

Now if no upsets (been lots of those lately) it will be Odyssey/Hilton/Texans Red filling out 7-8 spots. If Hilton beats Red then Odyssey/Red could be tied in points which Red would win because of 2nd tiebreaker, games won. Of course this assumes that these teams beat the lower teams lower in the standings who are playing a lot stronger as of late.

What I wonder is if LP Owen can avoid the playoff if not able to borrow players from Elite.
