U14 National Team

Looks like 3 from Solar and 1 from FC Dallas made it.

That's awesome. Congratulations to these 3 young ladies. Just curious though, does anyone know how the selection process works? Is it through ID camps? Development center? Ecnl?

It sure seems like Solar is the most deserving of a DA spot.

They are most deserving because of one age group that had some national team representation? I would think that out of the big girls clubs, Solar has probably had the least amount of girls called up. I know FCD, Texans and Sting have had several called up. Not sure who would be leading, but maybe FCD or even Sting?

My opinion is probably shaped by a different agegroup range than you veterans. I'm not a Solar guy by the way

So can I conclude that kids don't necessary to be at the top team when they were young and can still be developed into an elite level players? The other 2 Solar players are good examples, so is Samantha from Kicks 01.

Congrats on the Solar girls. Helps when your coach is also a YNT coach.

Which YNT does he coach?

We consistently complain about how NT never gets represented in the national team pools and now we have four in one age group. Who cares how they got there or what club they came from. Appreciate the opportunity and recognition and support their continued growth.

Agreed - well done to those young ladies, their families and their coaches!

And if I counted correctly there were 4 more girls from other parts of Texas - so 8 out of 48 seems like a solid number for our state (I didn't do a survey of other regions).

Agreed. This opens the door wider for NTX talent by showing that there is strength in depth here. Worth celebrating!!!!!

TX has 8
NJ has 5
GA has 4
FL has 3
KS has 2
MI has 2
NY has 2
OH has 2
VA has 2
AZ has 1
CO has 1
CT has 1
MD has 1
UT has 1
WI has 1

This is one team, but based on the 3 from Sting named to the U-17 team recently I'd say we are starting to see more than anecdotal evidence that soccer in Texas is starting to become dominant. None of the 4 girls selected from North Texas can be described as big or body bangers. I can say that the 3 from Solar are practically diminutive but all are very skilled.
Think that those who have been rambling about how poor the quality of soccer in Texas and N Texas will need to begin to reevaluate...

The quality of soccer comming out of Texas has always been great..but if you don't have Texas coaches in the mix of YNT coaching you will never see Tx girls getting called up...just a fact.


Take nothing away from the girls chosen from N. Texas it was well deserved my commit was that there are other girls from different clubs equally talented and hopefully will get the call up also.

Aside from the training to game ratio, this stood out the most to me:
goal scorers should play closer to the goal, fast players on the flank, creative players centrally, second tier goal scorers make great flank midfielders and flank defenders, tireless workers in the midfield, slow players centrally, tall players centrally, and technically efficient gifted athletes that are smart soccer players with a courageous and competitive spirit can play anywhere!

Some stats stood out to me most:

1. National team players come from two parent families
2. National team players normally have an older sibling
3. National team players have well educated parents
4. National team players have a history of playing against boys.
5. National team players have a history of playing up an age group.
