I think ordinarily LH would use its discretion and may downgrade such a team to DII or DIII. Perhaps all the more reason for a 20-team Supergroup next year. Seems silly for a team of essentially new players, some new to LH altogether, to hold a DI or DII spot.
I'm with ya. As i've said before, this is a giant mess and the only way to fix it with this group is to start over.
Don't you have to do that with most of the age groups with all of the turnover at every level? I bet we see divisions of at least 15 again.
Yes......so just nuke every age group and start over. The whole thing is a debacle.
I agree unfortunately there are not enough fields to have every age group go back to qualifying.
Making everyone re-qualify is not the answer. Those girls who already went through QT, played a season, and earned a bye, shouldn't be penalized by having to go through QT again. Not to mention have to pay for it again. Plus, I'm guessing several families have already made summer plans based on LH's prior promises that teams could keep their bye down or advance up. Oh, and good luck fairly seeding that QT tournament, which will inevitably end up with some odd results. Again, I cast my vote for a 20-team supergroup to let the new and old teams figure it all out over a season.
Now with this whole JDL thing, does anyone think there shouldn't be a 20-team supergroup?

Of course you don't, but there are about 500 girls who aren't so elite as your DD who just might.

Re: Lake Highland byes list
9 teams from the U11 D1 Supergroup requested byes for U12
3 teams from U11 D3 requested byes
LH is looking at having a 20 team D1 Supergroup and 10 team D3 for U12 this year.
The 9 teams that requested U12 byes from the D11 Supergroup will be given byes into the U12 D1 Supergroup. The 3 teams from U11 D3 that requested U12 byes will be given byes into U12 D3.
The remaining 11 spots in U12 Supergroup and remaining 7 spots in U12 D3 will be filled via QT.

So only teams that actually earned BYE's...and no automatic "moving up" from the lower D3 teams...

That is my understanding based on the info provided to me. I don't know any details beyond that. My GUESS is that the teams with the D3 byes can either choose to accept the D3 spot, or they can throw their hat back into the ring in QT and try to qualify for D1, but with the risk of losing their D3 spot if they were to totally flame out in QT. Again, that is just my GUESS.
That would seem to be a fair way of doing things.

The bye idea you laid out makes sense - the D3 teams can stay or take a shot at D1 thru QT.

Looks like bwgophers was correct......and no byes were given to any team that did not earn it.

Was there talk of allowing teams in that did not earn a bye?SocDad wrote:SocDad wrote:bwgophers wrote:Got some info on this from a source who has been highly reliable to me in the past. Nothing is final yet, but this is my understanding of what LHGCL is looking at for U12 ('05 AP) for this year...

How can they just be 'allowed' in? They would have to earn it right? Through qualifying? That is going to be the difficulty in all of this. What about the 75% roster rule. Heck even a 50% rule would be tough for some of these teams.
This is just another reason why we aren't getting all of the information we need.

I was involved in some some chatter a couple of days ago on another thread that there were a slight possibility an FCD team would get brought up to play, even though they didn't place well enough to earn a BYE.
Now I guess there's still a possibility that another FCD team will implode/not take and that "Earned Bye" will be given to them?

I believe that only happens when you leave a club and 75% of your team does not stay intact and leave with you. Then the bye would stay with the club.Footiefan82 wrote:Speaking of FC Dallas teams, did I hear that the ones from the old Andro West lost their byes but the ones with the mother ship who merged with Solar kept them?
