So smug...

I agree with your last point. 3 DA teams makes more sense.

The end product of removing those 8-11 girls from 2 age groups from ECNL rosters and moving them to DA per age will diminsh player quality for those clubs commited to both. Even with the larger poulation in Dallas Metro the rest of the girls remaining will be of a a dimished caliber and spread among various clubs.
I wan't commenting on TSC as a club, only that OK isn't represented on the boys side either, so as far as travel and league play, not much would change. Boys from OK find there way to local clubs if they want to go that route. We have a few out of state boys that play.
I am sure TSC did what they thought was best, good for them. The girls being "seen" part isn't all true. The in-between age groups get put in a separate league (called pre-academy prior to now) It is a holding spot for players, that do the same programming, and have the same showcases.

TFD- Not sure if you were trying to compare national teams, but I thought I would respond to it.
Mens:
So the USYNT's are 95% filled with DA players from U23 and down. Being that it started 8 years ago, add the programming to take affect (take in account klinsmans technical changes in 2011), we should start seeing some more DA players on the first team sooner than later. Now that being said, will that make us better as a country? -- don't know, only time will tell. The mens side are competing against every nation that has had soccer as its top sport for much longer than we have. So the mens side can't simply throw athletes out there and expect to win.
In comparison to the womens national teams, which is unfair; South America, Middle East, some African countries don't even allow most women to play the sport. UK had a ban on womens soccer until the 70's. So our national team of athletes, who have had a million percent more success than the men, have been competing on a more even playing field, and against lesser competition. Put in the South American nations that focus on women starting familes at ~16, and the womens side is overall talent deficient.
Now peek into the U20's who are littered with ECNL players, and missed the wwc for 2nd cycle. That is the future of our USWNT. We are being caught as a country. The more the world allows women to participate in playing sports (soccer), the more the US will need actual soccer players and not just athletes. Just because we have won before now, doesn't mean we are on the right track. I believe that is a reason, among many, the USSF stepped in and is making the DA push with soccer specific technical programming.
