Kudos to LP St John as they may be the most improved 04 team from fall to spring!

Fall:

0 wins, 8 losses, 0 ties - 0 points
6 goals for, 32 against

Spring (thru 3 games):

2 wins, 1 tie - 7 points
9 goals for, 3 against

Quite impressive!

Certainly would have been more impressive if TB was actually using players off the team that he developed in order to win.

3 CPP all played 100% of the game.

I hope the girls who signed with him had fun watching from the bench.  Sad

It looks like the guess players couldnt help much against Rush yesterday. The points streak ended with a 0-5 defeat.

Someone help me understand why JDL got rained out yesterday but LH played? It didn't stop raining for 10 minutes at my little part of the metroplex.

Good news is - those girls will never walk alone.

But they will build some camaraderie on the bench.

Besides, I'm sure it was all about the development  Rolling Eyes

Sounds like the paying team members are developing their bench-warming skills.

(was going to say paying "players", but apparently not so much)

players improve by playing against better competition , playing with better skilled players, playing the game, quality coaching, quality practices and watching and learning from others. It sounds to me like this coach is trying several techniques to improve the team and it is working. It was not LP St.John who introduced and passed the rule to allow guest players but they are certainly taking advantage of a rule passed by the "big" clubs... I say , good for this coach for wanting to improve his team and unless the folks on the team are unhappy then I say go for it.

yep, I guess that about sums it up

G. Club Pass Players
The LHGCL board of directors believes that the rule was incorporated in order to fulfill two basic needs:
 Foster the development of players by allowing them to participate within their own club at a higher level of competition without the commitment of a roster transfer.
 To assist team s that may be short sided due to injury, illness, or other commitments.

LP's use of CPP is clearly not within the intent of the rule.  The only reason they are doing this is to try and secure a D1 slot as the coach believes the current team can not do it with the roster they have.  They are taking advantage of the rule, outside its clearly stated intent, in order to gain an advantage on their competition, using player(s) who will definitely not be playing on this team next year as well.

The fact that they are utilizing CPP players who play 100% of the game says quite a lot about what exactly is going on here, so don't feed us your garbage about "techniques to improve the team".  Are they practicing with the team as well?  I noticed that you mention play time - lol - CPP players are taking developmental play time from those who need it most.

The fact that LP must use CPP to win doesn't prove that the team is improving.  I believe one poster stated they had no CPP and didn't win.  It only proves they can win against the bottom few D1 teams with 3 CPP who, combined, get more than 27% of the field time.  So, if you call a game of "kick the ball to the CPP" improving, well . . . Rolling Eyes

If you really think this is about development . . . lol!

I can guarantee you that the player CPP'd from the 03 LP Elite team for our game will not be playing on this team next year.

I have seen teams play D1 games with 10, 11, or 12 players.  Rostering 17 in order to include 3 CPP (not 1 or 2, but the allowed maximum of 3)?  Having 4 or more subs (all of whom play at some point during the game) watch while the 3 CPP play 100% of the game?  Yep - all about the development. Rolling Eyes

Actually, the game line-up says "CP".  Players who have been rostered to the team do not say "CP" and do not appear and disappear from the line-up from week-to-week.

Cool

You're foolish if you think any coach uses CPP for any kind of development. It's strictly for positioning so as to not get relegated. But you're right, it was created by the big clubs for the big clubs so why not use it against them.

Lol.

Does LP qualify as a "big club" in LH?

In actuality, it is used by COACHES against other teams, the girls on which had no say on CPP, club byes, or any of this other nonsense.

There's no development happening on that team. It is just a desperate grab to stay in D1. I would be ashamed, which is the exact opposite of coming on this forum and touting the development that is occurring during this Spring season.

If 3 PP's is all LP St John needed to go from last to middle of the pack and beat the third ranked team 4-1 this weekend, I would say the gap wasn't that great.
