Re: Keeper Training
A few Reasons why small GK training is best:
1. Goalies learn off of others actions
2. Any mistakes the other goalies do and the coach corrects them.....your goalie listens and will try not to make the same mistake (peer pressure)
3. GK'ers don't get so tired out so easily as one would just by themselves.
there are more reasons....but that will get you started

That is depending on age. My DD is definitely not 5'7" and is a fierce keeper at the '07 level. Height will come with age (hopefully, dad is 6'4"), aggressiveness between the sticks is un-teachable.

Re: Keeper Training
The most important rule though when it comes to private keeper training is, you get what you pay for.

However, his quality comes at a cost.
Sagu is also excellent, and does group training that will save you some $, but you'll need to drive to get to him, as he's trains in the Addison/Richardson/Plano area.

Re: Keeper Training
Is anyone having luck with the GK coaching provided within their respective club or are outside coaches really that far above and beyond? I ask because we've only worked within the club so far and been happy but if there's a superior product on the open market...

My DD worked with both of the coaches that I mentioned above primarily through her regular club training. We have done some additional sessions outside of club with each, but for the most part, it's been the training included with her regular club dues.

Re: Keeper Training
We just started with our current club and her first session with the club keeper coach is tomorrow so fingers crossed.

Yes I agree, Jay is absolutely fantastic. My DD is very fortunate that he is her keeper coach.bwgophers wrote:Jay Fitzgerald (Texans ECNL and Ft. Worth Nolan Catholic head coach) is excellent, and also excellent with that age of keeper. I'm thinking Cleansheets would agree.
