When will they announce the schedule for round 2?  I'm ready to see who my daughter will be fighting playing this weekend.

Think of it this way, these coaches are teaching your dd's to play soccer, much in the same way Mr. Smith teaches them biology or algebra. Would any of you allow Mr. Smith to speak to your dds that way at school. Then why is it allowed in our dd's sports. Because he gets results. Laughable!

We hear a lot about the coaches and systems who are not doing great by our DD's, but what about those of whom are doing positive things. I'm interested in seeing comments or thoughts on coaches, clubs, teams, etc that are considered to be the best in the 07 age group and why? (style of play, facilitating DDs growth, vested in kids future, history of success with getting girls to next step,etc.)

That would be a great new topic, but I warn you it could go south quickly.

hahaha! you sir clearly never played high school football or any other sport at any level for that matter. If you think your coach talks to you the same as a teacher you are insanely disconnected from reality. My freshman year my algebra teacher WAS my defensive line coach. He would teach me math in a calm, cool and collected manner and then cuss me out and knock me on my a$$ later that afternoon. He was an incredible teacher, a phenomenal coach and I learned how to do math and become an elite defensive end from the same person.

You sir (or madam) have officially gone round the bend.

Times have changed from coaches grabbing face mask and cursing players. You will not be in a job long.

Kids are a product of environment. As a GK DAD07 stated: "If you want your girls to be able to run on a break away towards the goal without a defender trying to run you down or your player to come off of a throw in or goal kick without a bump or jersey tug then you should invest heavily in giant plastic bubbles and video games because this is not the sport for you." What environment leads a 9/10 yr old to start swinging in a game? Each player gets bumped, tugged, even elbowed, part of it right? To then turn around and start swinging??? Really? So is this a parent or coaching failure? Unless yall are blaming the kid(I am not).

So, Mr GKDad07, who played football, how many swings did you take at an opposing player in a game? (I'm guessing zero, which is my point) And why didn't you take a swing?

If my kid is getting cheap fouled continuously to the point of it's becoming dangerous I'm ok if she protects herself.. the last thing I will raise is another snowflake/victim... there's sportsmanship than there's protecting yourself and ensuring the cheap player understands that the cheap fouls are unacceptable

Times have not changed for the better imo.. In the good old days when stuff like this happened and the refs let the kids play on, the kids took care of it themselves. Even in rec/school yard, the kids take care of it themselves.. It's called conflict resolution. The kids on a hot field this weekend got physical, got chippy, and tempers boiled over.. It happens. This is how teams bond and learn how to play for one another. Soccer like Football, Hockey, and basketball are full contact sports... Fights happen and when they do, kids learn to become accountable for their actions.. Wow.. what a concept.. Look at all the good that came out of that game. Girls learn that if they play dirty vs. physical they could get their a$$ whipped. Girls also learn if they let a dirty player get to them and throw a fist, you get suspended and hopefully grounded by their parents. Refs learn if they don't stop the crap going on the field, they get roasted in the suspension review. Coaches learn if they don't control their players, they can get themselves knocked out of a tournament or QT cuz their best player is suspended.. All great and valuable lessons.. Let's move on to something more interesting.

Skill and speed of play aren't going to help you much if you are being assaulted away from the play or being blindly run down from behind.

Good one, SOS. The context was a discussion about the great Tatu! He is a clown, the way he talks to your daughters but at least with him, its highschool aged girls and not 9yr olds. To each his own, I wouldn't, but hey whatever you think is best for your dd. This discussion however is about a couple of 9yr old girls and how some of you have used their transgressions to go after a coach you don't like. I don't like her style, tactics, joysticking or her scratchy voice going non-stop for the whole game but she isn't what you guys are making her out to be. Keep telling us how bad she is troll!

I agree teach them to throw the right hook. Make sure you discuss setting your feet, leaning in with the shoulder, and follow through to finish it off. Conflict resolved.

Maybe incorporate dueling pistols?

What are we "making her out to be?"

Her coaching style and what (in part) she teaches at practice speaks for itself.  Let each parent be the judge on whether it is appropriate, as I think we have established that the clubs are generally not interested in policing the coaches that bring $ to the bottom line.

And that is the key 'let each parent be the judge'. Apparently KW's parents are all on board.

Well Axel you seem to have set yourself up for failure by assuming I had never taken a swing. I could easily lie and say I had been in tons of sports related fights just to make my point but as luck would have it I have in fact been in a few scrums in my day.

See, much like this FCD JDL team my high school football team was a perennial State Champion so we too played at a higher level than the average team we played against. As a defensive end my job was to make the O-lines days a living hell so when I came around the end and got to their QB or RB you think I didn't get an elbow or fist in the lower back, thigh or groin by a lineman who I just beat for the 7th time where the refs couldn't see it? This can go on for a while, while you take solace in the fact that you're padding your stat sheet at their expense but you can only take so many groin shots before you snap. What was my personal favorite? My dad taught me never to start a fight but to always finish one so coming out of the pile I would shove the offender (which the refs would usually let go to a certain extent) and hope that the offender would snap and take a swing since he was clearly already on edge. Sometimes they did (and I swung back in self defense) and sometimes they didn't and that's where it ended. Did I get kicked out of games for it? Absolutely. Did my coaches get pissed? Absolutely. But they also always understood the circumstances and expected me to stand up for myself. You can show all kinds of crazy self restraint but eventually you have to stand up for yourself.

If the story is true, that the Sting player was continually elbowing the FCD player in the back and the FCD player snapped and "fought back" then I don't blame her. How much can you take with it not being called before you snap? I think she may have taken her reaction too far but I don't blame her for reacting. I blame the refs for not catching what was going on and stopping it before it escalated. Word from the game was that the side judge called it and then the ref went over to chat it out with him/her. As someone pointed out before if either one of them had been cognizant of what was happening they should have gone to the spot of the foul and separated the girls and handled it from there, not had a chat 20 yards away while they stand there fuming.
