07 LH QT

Seems like everyone that was supposed to win did in fact win. Who is going to upset whom first? Or will there be none?

According to Youth National Rankings USA, Fever Phiri is only 5 spots ahead of Sting Larry in North Texas rankings. That is the closest of the 1 and 2 seeds....

Sting Larry can put together some solid matches.

Group G has been tight all weekend.

Looks like E and F has bigger issues.

E is really interesting -- they are tied through all tiebreakers. If they end tied, they would have to go to PKs I guess.

Brackets A-E advanced with ease as expected. Brackets F & G had some good battles and looks like goal differential played a huge roll. Thought fever would run away with bracket F but Sting Larry came to play! Seems like bracket H had the biggest upset when considering Solar Byars JDL team couldn't manage to win its bracket. Overall good weekend of soccer and look forward to next weekends results!

Sting Larry played Fever in King Tut last week (and lost) and FCD Premier played Solar Byars (and lost).  They both won in the rematches (Sting tied but advanced).  It always seems that playing a team a second time in close proximity leads to interesting results.

In the past, they've used a very simple formula based on Round 1 bracket placement to form Round 2 brackets that easily avoid Round 1 rematches.  If they follow that formula this year, you will get the brackets below.  In the past, LH has typically NOT done anything to avoid intra-club matchups in Round 2.  Of course, when it comes to LH, past history has not always been an accurate indicator of the future   , so let's see who's closer on their prediction...

All the second place teams are ranked by points, followed by the third place teams again ranked by points, and finally the fourth place teams ranked by points. Using that order we snake through the 7 brackets of four. We will rearrange teams to avoid the same matchups from week one, but will not avoid club conflicts.

Guess I'd have to go back to the LH source if you're right.. you've got a wee bit of experience on your side, tho.

They've changed things a couple of times over the years, and I don't pay as close attention as I used to, so it's quite possible you are correct.  We'll see.

However, the system you described is not particularly fair to Solar Rundell or D'Kicks Formacao given how they did the crossover bracket this year. If there were 40 teams, Formacao would have played #10, #30, & #31 seeds and Rundell would have played #9, #29, & #32.

Instead they substituted #11/#12 seed for #31/#32, so what normally would have been an easy 8-10 point win, ends up being a 5 pt. draw for each team. So that likely cost each of those teams 3-5 pts, which could be a significant difference in the Round 2 bracketing. Hopefully LH recognizes this and address it accordingly.

I've argued for reseeding in the past, but BW's point is very well taken for what happened this year. That, plus there weren't huge variances. Probably best not to reseed this year. And of course they'd have to move one of them to avoid a rematch, so who gets further penalized for being in the crossover?

Do we know when the schedule will come out for next weekend- round 2??

So what JDL team didn't qualify first week???

Were all Solar teams mandated to carry SRSA players except Kennington and Rundell?  I bet parents from the 5 other teams loved seeing lil Suzie on the bench so Mia could play.

Also FCD- JDL Red(Webb) took their physicality to another level with red cards and punches thrown?

Besides the SRSA parade of players and the MMA event at Webb's game, a snoozer of a weekend.

Ummm bracket f might have went to goal differentials but G points were wrong DTS was 21 and Liverpool 20.

What game was this?

Poor officiating seemed to be a theme over the weekend. How does an official let 9&10 year olds get to a point that punches are thrown? If the QT is such a big deal get officials that aren't scared to take control. How will the red cards affect each team going forward? I'm guessing nothing will be done. No way either coach does anything about it. The win is more important than teaching these kids the correct way to act.

Per league rules, a VC red card is automatic two game suspension. North Texas did change the rules this year that cards and suspensions stay within the competition (with some minor exceptions, check the rules), meaning that the team remaining in the QT for week 2, the red carded player will not be able to play the first two matches. For the player that advances, there isn't anything written specifically in the rules. The A&D Chairman will most likely make a decision after the referee report is evaluated. I wouldn't call that "nothing being done"...

So unless the Chairman makes a different ruling the FCD player will play like nothing happened while the other girl will have to sit 2 games? I truly believe that this type of action should be punished by the coaches also. What are the odds of these 2 coaches setting an example (I don't know either coach personally)?
