05 Coach Recs
05 Coach Recs
A couple months ago we were given the names of Lee Weddell, Chris Pulpaneck, Gabriel Adames and Adam Flynn to check out. We have formed some initial opinions but would like to get some additional perspectives.
We will be living either in North Dallas or somewhere in Collin County.
Thank you so much for any insights.
PM me if more comfortable.

Welcome to Texas!
I too live in Collin County and I have an '06 DD and an '02 DD. Both have played competitive soccer, and my oldest now in competitive volleyball.
Full disclosure.. I am actively involved in NTX leadership at both club level and serve on a couple of boards and serve as a team manager.. I am not a coach. My oldest DD played for 2 clubs and my youngest '06 has played for 2 clubs (she has played for her current club for 4 years now).
From an '05 perspective, are you looking at top team regardless of quality of coach or top coach with good competitive teams?
Adames is fantastic soccer coach but can be moody and rough... All his teams are best of the best. The dude definitely knows his stuff and is demanding as heck. Your DD has to have a thick skin and be beyond dedicated to play for him. My youngest doesn't have what it takes to play for him and she is probably in the top 20 in terms of outside mids in NTX.
Pulp - good coach.. cannot say anything bad about him. Solar from club perspective is one of the more business oriented clubs. They do have the best skills trainers in NTX though with Castro and Salvidor. Pulp '05 ECNL and DA teams are quality. His coaching partner is Matt Colvin and together they are one of the best duos in NTX.
Lee Weddell - he ran the RASE program at Liverpool before moving to FC Dallas. Good coach.. He is definitely career minded from a money/political perspective. FC Dallas is a money machine and a soccer mill though. You could be promised 1 thing and FC will do whatever they want with you once you sign a contract. They subscribe to a pool based concept and could care less about creating a team environment for the kids. I would let my DD play for Lee just not at FC Dallas.
Adam Flynn - I like him.. Good coach. Sarcastic as heck.. Girls have a lot of fun playing for him. My DD has played for LP in the past. I like the club. My DD would definitely play for Adam. I currently do not have any DD at LP but would not keep them from playing at LP
Other Coaches to check out in Collin County:
1. Juan Martinez - D'Feeters/Kicks. Juan has built the best '05 team in Texas and one of the best in the Country. He is an outstanding mild mannered coach that focuses on situational/possession based soccer. Juan is the '05 ECNL coach. I like his team and the girls on his team has a lot of diversity and overall nice kids. They work hard, play hard, and seem to have a lot of fun.
2. James Haylock - Solar.. Great coach. My youngest daughter's best friend plays for this team.. Great group of girls. Not ECNL though
3. Audrie Gutierrez - Sting ECNL - My youngest plays Sting Black '06 all the time. Audrie is one of the few coaches I would let my DD play for. She is really good, very demanding, and everything is earned on her team. Her methods of punishment can be harsh though at this age. My DD chose a different path vs. playing for Audrie because she would get as much playing with Audrie that she gets where she is today.
4. Raegan Angell - He is the '06 ECNL coach for next year when they are U13. He has an '05 team with D'Feeters that he inherited.. He is a great person, a good coach, and cares more about the kids than arguably anyone in North Texas. If you DD is top tier, that team is not a good fit for her, but he is truly one of the best coaches in the system.

David Hoffman at Celtic.
My DD has crossed paths with his group a couple of times and they were a lot better the second time. We were told by other parents he has a history of his players getting better and into college or pros if they want to earn it.

Is it April 1st already? There is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and I have a beach property I am selling in Mojave.

Apparently, you don't know much about this guy or you haven't seen a truly gifted coach in action. His teams are usually strong but best of the best? C'mon now Sir.

Regarding LW and FCD ...
You left out the part where he started up DT South for HN and hired a rec coach by the name of GA when his big bro begged to get him a gig.
Your assessment of FCD's alleged devious strategies are literally awesome (soccer mill, no team environment, etc ... fun stuff), and the implication that LW went to FC Dallas for $ is especially humorous considering.
Been catching up on your stuff from the last couple of days ... You're really on a roll there aren't ya bud?

Re: 05 Coach Recs
1. Take a few DA DOCs for a nice dinner and let them know you have inside connections with national selectors. You will be offered DA spots.
2. Move to highland village in Denton county and you may get a spot on FCD DA 05 team.
3. If you are an Afro and your kid can clock 50meters in 6.5 seconds. Chances are ur kid is recruited by these coaches.
4. You are 6’ 4” tall, your kid automatically considered most talented and can play for any coaches
5. You should train with certain skills trainer that doesn’t know soccer. He teaches players how to dance with the ball but nothing more and your child is most sought after that. .
All jokes to the side , there are couple of good developers and have proven records, stay with them.

And referring to the A Bros as a tandem that are "doing something right" is much like saying pizza is doing a good job helping out with the obesity epidemic, or that the Patriots are doing 'something right' in the AFC East.
It's fish in a barrel for Christ's sake!
