If they had a choice teams would have taken the Santos route , no fault of theirs but they seemed to have more accessible teams. The more impressive team in this tourney has to be ntx United, to get out of the group against those teams has to be impressive. Allegiance, at times plays nice but results lately haven't been there. Alot of real good teams out there which is a good thing going forward.

Balleralert, do your realize Santos beat Solar PRE-DA 4-1, with complete domination of the game? It was not just sort of or a tight game, it was complete domination. Whether Solar PRE-DA lost steam sounds like an excuse as both teams played the same amount of games.  Santos won their bracket, they then beat the winner of a second bracket.
It is exciting to see such great talent in this 2009 age group, many playing up in 2008 and still being on top. Some fantastic soccer is being developed and played on the pitch.

Soccerkat your take on the Santos vs Solar game is exactly what I heard from several others. From my sources, who did not have a dog in the fight, Santos went up early on Solar and then hit the cruise control. As to their draw, they did get a little lucky with that but I also heard from lots of people that Santos was great to watch and moved the ball well. But they need to show that they can close out tournaments. They haven't shown me that yet.

Allegiance is puzzling the same sources said that they pass well but have little forward intent or ability vs top teams. To quote one buddy "they have some tiki but no taka". Hopefully this is just a funk.

I also heard that Sao Paulo parents were thrown out of the game vs Solar and the police had to step in at the FCD vs DTS quarters.

I heard the same thing about Sao Paulo- made all the parents leave the sideline - and the same about FCD and DTS. Heard Tigres coach's son was guest playing w DTS and he was the one who started it on the sidelines.

I agree with some comments about Santos- They are going to be a solid team.

Any of who say "winning doesn't matter right now " are either delusional or you thought your team was the BEST and are now getting beat. All of these top coaches play to win in tourneys - and at the same time, most try to develop a certain style of play while winning.
Yes- Winning isn't everything but don't fool yourself for a second that winning is not important too.

Sao Paulo
FCD Academy

I agree that santos still needs to prove they can close
Tournaments, wish they played in more tournaments
And show everyone that can win it



At the end of the day I think all would agree there is no team that shows any sign of dominance.

Can someone elaborate more on what went down on the sideline at the fcd vs dts quarters game.

So, dts has been using Tigres players the last few tournaments and FCD players before then. What happened to the original group?

FCD Academy had several guest players in this tournament as well.

FCD will move its players around from team to team with in the club so I dont really consider that guest playing.

It's guest playing, especially since that is supposed to be the Premier team of FCD, in likeness to Solar "PRE-DA". You have to "try-out" and be the "select" to play for those teams. So to have kids who are not generally on their rooster, is guest playing.

Golaso, all would not agree.

FCD-Solar hold these pools of lets say 20 players.
US club roster max at 24. So they simply add and remove (within the club) who ever they want for each tournament. Yes they are not playing with their academy coach or team but are still with in the club. So on paper, there is no need for guest forms etc.. So  to me, its not guest playing.

The bigger concern- who is in charge of running the pools and the selection of players. So many kids and they cant find 7 to dominate at u9 in just our area.

I don't think FCD has a problem finding kids, its convincing them to join at this age that's the hard part.

Most kids usually have a team close to their house and if they want to join the Premier team, I think for FCD they train in Frisco and they would now have to make that drive and more practices I assume.

It's also not in the best interest of the child (at least at this young age) to be in a pooled situation, working with different coaches at the flip of a coin. How can a coach develop your child when they don't even know them - their strengths or weaknesses. Development is the most important not winning games at this age. How can US soccer move forward if our kids are not developed.

Solar PRE-DA is only a tournament team - the best of Solar. Kennington was not even at the tournament due to being at his older Solar girls ID camps.

FCD Academy has not even had a consistent coach at practice (well at least not the coach they were promised)

So why would people want to be on those teams?

Not yet anyway- we as parents should be only be thinking about the development of our child and a good coach is the key to that success, a coach that believes in your child. Yes, winning is a great reward for ALL of our boy's hard work and our time/money as parents.

Problem is there is no right path for development, we dont known how as a country. I dont claim to know how either but as a parent you set up your kid to what you think is best. You can argue that exposing your kid to different styles of coaching can help in the long run instead of staying and knowing one style or formation. I think it comes down to how bad the bb wants it or how hungry he is to succeed.

Best Possession team: NTX Santos & Allegiance - winner Santos by virtue of making farther
Best Kick and Run Team: FCD Red & DTS - winner FCD same reason
Craziest Parents: Sao Paulo for their entire sideline of parents getting kicked out of a game - Close 2nd Garland Tigres
Team that the punched above their weight: NTX United had a great run getting past Allegiance and FCD Red
Most disappointing performance: Allegiance

Fcd moves the ball around pretty good. I wouldn't say they are just a kick and run team..

Looks like there are some good potential match ups in the U90 tournament this weekend. They split the top teams into seprate division.

Rumor is that the TD was splitting teams based on style of play. There is going to be a ‘kick and run’ division where scores are kept, and a ‘possession’ division that awards a champion based on the scores given by a panel of judges.

Dallas open has a lot of good teams in tournament
But fcd and ftw tigers have walk off brackets s in pool play they both have no competition I disagree with brackets would like to see them against
Allegiance, NOKC, Palomenque , and Dudley

The finals in Dallas Open were good. The goals on the fields in Frisco were super small....I amend my previous statement. FCD academy did try to move the ball around against Tigres, and did not try to kick and run.

Probably the reason they lost looks like
They are a better kick and run team then trying to move the ball arround and fell short.

Quit instigating, I have seen far worst kick ball teams then this fcd team. TEXANS SOUTH/ NTX UNITED even TIGERES to name a few. Some of these teams have to resort to kick ball with all these guest players.

Some teams even resort to the defenders booting the ball down field on goal kicks. Seen that more than a few times. With that said, I’m really not sure why there seems to be the odd obsession in this age group when it comes to playing style. Real Madrid doesn’t control the ball like Barcelona does, but they counter attack with lightning quickness and precision... both work.

No one is instigating results show for themselves
And no one said fcd was the worst just qualifying them as a kick ball team as well as the teams names you threw out there

Open oh wait they really didn’t beat anyone
In that group it was all a bunch of weak teams
Other then that NOKC but thy just got by on that one with a tie against them in pool play in a 1 goal differential in the final smh I’ll just leave it there
