Solar East 07 Boys Ackerson - Looking

Solar East 07 Boys Ackerson (Previously Liverpool 07 Boys Owen) are looking to add players this season.

We are returning to Classic 1 and are looking for players who want to be challenged and developed. We currently have 2 - 07 teams practicing mon/wed in Rockwall.

By maintaining the Classic D1 bye can we assume you picked up one of Solar's byes because you wouldn't meet the 75% roster requirement to take the LP bye with you after losing players to DA?

Since Volkan has taken Kennington's bye...does that mean you were given McKinney's bye???

We will be able to keep our bye.

Apparently LP Carragher thought my question was valid as they are claiming they have the D1 bye that stayed with the club.  Hopefully your families were made aware before signing day

For those people considering...what exactly should we be made aware of?

Disclaimer-I'm on the outside looking in and have no axe to grind.

Solar Ackerson (formerly LP Owen) would have to retain at least 75% of its roster as of January 1, 2018 in order to retain the bye earned by the final standings. ***Although I don't know for sure...I believe at least 5 kids have been selected to play DA next season so its mathematically impossible to retain 75%*** If Solar Ackerson DOESN'T retain the required 75% roster, the bye stays with Liverpool and is theirs to do with as they please. To wit LP Carragher posted recently that they had a D1 bye for next season which they didn't earn since they didn't place in the top 4 of D2. Taking over the bye vacated by LP Owen is their only way they could qualify for D1.

So what this means for Solar Ackerson...the only way they could have a D1 bye is if they took over one of the 3 Solar byes that the club controls. Solar McKinney is keeping their bye. Solar Martinez is keeping their bye. Solar Kennington has disbanded and their bye is available...however Solar Volkan has been recruiting stating that they are playing D1. For what its worth...I'd think Ackerson would be more deserving of taking that bye since a good portion of the roster competed at a high level in D1 this past season. Volkan lost their top players to DA and even with them wasn't good enough to finish in the top 4 of D2. Point is...there are more teams claiming they are playing D1 next year than there are spots available.

What does this mean for anyone considering signing with Solar Ackerson? They are at the clubs mercy (Solar) at what bye they are given - if any. They can get the available D1 bye instead of Volkan...in which case Volkan would keep their D2 bye. OR they could take Volkan's D2 bye (which was likely already promised to Juliao). OR with all the available byes already assigned, they may be stuck playing Plano Premier as its too late to enter the challenge tournament for D2.

Bottom line is somebody at Solar - Ackerson, Volkan, or Juliao isn't getting something they were promised. Its simply impossible...

For someone with no axe to grind seems like you've taken quite the time to lay out your theory...Sometimes the easiest explanation could be the correct one....what if they have retained 75% of their players?

Then LP Carragher doesn't have the D1 slot they're marketing...

Well stated case there LongTimeFirstTime... that's the exact same logic I was using in my comments on the LP Carragher thread. Either way, good luck on the upcoming season to both Coaches and their teams!

I was told that Ackerson did retain 75% of his roster, the fact that they move on to DA is irrelevant since they did follow him to the club...they all signed the paperwork.

This is typically where both sides lay claim and Classic sorts it out.

Outside looking in as well, I would think that Owen has far less claim to Solar’s D1 bye than Volkan. First, Volkan’s team was already with Solar and was promised the spot long before Ackerson moved. Second, you could say that Ackerson lost far more than Volkan as half their team looks to be playing Solar DA. Thirdly, it is Ackerson’s job to retain his bye, not Solars. Assuming he does not have the bye (who knows), he should have gotten with Classic to find out exactly what he needed to do to retain it. I’m sure part of him taking an assistan coach role with Wells’ DA squad, was the fact that he was bringing his top players for DA and a Classic D1 bye to the club.

I, for one, hope that he kept his D1 bye and can bolster his roster enough to be competitive in D1 without his top 4 players and keeper or whatever went DA, because that makes D1 better. It’s going to be bad enough minus 7 or 8 of the top 10 teams from last season.

It’s actually closer to 10 that went DA (9 to Solar and 1 to Texans).

Should assume most of the proficient players on the top 15 teams that wanted to play DA are playing DA. D1 will be significantly watered down next year save for Allegiance which doesn’t look to have lost any and possibly one other top 10 team. The balance lost the majority of their team.

Guess we're starting to get some insight into who took whose by in D1. Still 4 teams missing from the D1 list but Carragher is clearly listed and Ackerson is not.

does it happen this way every year? wonder how they backfill d1 and d2. looks like some teams disappeared? Fever is not on there. think this DA thing (extra teams) was not thought through.

Solar Volkan D2 bye? They didn't make it in through the Challenge tournament, that was Tezkol.

Solar Juliao isn't listed on the Classic League Website as having made it so looks like they got in by finishing 2nd on the 2nd weekend of the Challenge Tournament which likely means someone that previously had a D2 bye either lost it, got promoted to D1, or the team no longer exists (this likely isn't Carragher as Liverpool would have filled that D2 bye with another team) and that opened up a 7th spot in D2. Just a guess however.

So it remains to be seen who will get the Kennington D1 bye as neither Volkan or Ackerson are listed as of yet.  As a former Kennington parent...I vote for Ackerson.  They at least have D1 level players. Assuming they weren't all pulled to backfill the DA squad.

seems like the last slot was for Texans South who stayed up in D1. no other Texans teams to take additional D2 spot. the additional DA teams really strained the talent and team pool. wonder what will happen when a lot of those kids come back next year. where do we sign up for tennis lessons?

Not much. A number of them will probably be burnt out and dejected.

Some of the kids that I know who went DA because of the extra teams won't be able to just walk on and claim a starting spot on a D1 roster next year (at least for the 10 teams that qualify for D1 in 19/20).

But some will.

Just like a lot of kids are getting the chance to play D1 this year because so many left to play DA, next year there will be quite a few that helped their team qualify for D1 that will end up back in D2. Just the nature of the game.

This doesn’t even necessarily require the kids returning from DA taking their spot on their current team, it’s entirely possible that one or more of the clubs form teams with their cast off DA players, augment those teams with their top non-DA players on their D1 teams and awards those teams one of the club’s D1 byes.

Byes belong to the club, not the teams.

I think there will be more options next year than people might think for the current u12 DA landscape in North Texas. Which will keep most kids in Classic D1 in the same spot, omitting any that don't want to do another year of DA after their first year.

If you look at last years first year boys DA teams that had only requested u12 rosters in DA (across the entire US) they ALL requested u13 teams for this upcoming year and they ALL got them. So I am going to assume that the 3 new DA teams/clubs in the area that requested boys u12 DA teams (FCD South, Solar West, and Texans whatever) will make or request u13 DA teams for the following year keeping those DA kids in DA for the u13 season.

Also, there is now boys ECNL that some of the clubs participate in and the 06 birth years seem to be using boys ECNL as another spot to put/develop kids. I know Texans, Solar, and Liverpool now actively participate in boys ECNL.

So I would agree there may be some movement back to Classic League after the first year of DA. I don't think it will be full teams coming back to displace the D2 kids that now have the opportunity to play D1 this year. Just my 2 cents.
