Re: Qualifying Tournament Format
Excellent. But be careful injecting simple logic into the process. It would be too much to concede that weather, bad refs, or any number of reasons might affect scoring in particular games and thus keep SuzyQ's team from D1 or LH altogether just because they couldn't rack up 11 goals against the 4 seed. Just dealing with 1st and 2nd place finishes would have been too simple.shootalready wrote:Can anyone explain the thought process on so many teams advancing to 2nd weekend? There are teams that finished last in their bracket, losing all their games and scored ONE or ZERO goals...how does this qualify to "advancing"? Thought the past structure of 7 brackets of 4 made sense, now it seems Round 1 just being repeated without the 1st place finishers.
And just look at the face of the 4 seed parents this weekend, most would give $100 not to be there after the beating from this last weekend. And let's not forget that the points driver keeps more marginal players from even getting into the games, another beat-down.

To me, this is a little more exciting for the middle teams, where you will need to win two of three to qualify. If a team is upset by a fourth seed (the one that scored zero goals in round one), that team probably won't make it.
It also makes the bracket seeding a little more important. Just waiting to hear the complaints on Monday.
