LHGCL Divisions Empty LHGCL Divisions

As someone new to this, why does Girls Classic set up one large, 20 team first division for the U-11's? They then create two divisions after that year. It seems like this leads to some mismatches when a highly ranked team plays number 19 or 20.

Because it's downright funny watching 12 yr old girls lose a game 0-8 and get completely demoralized.

From my perspective as a parent of an 07 it gives teams an opportunity that may have had either a great\bad tournament an opportunity to show if they are truly a D1 team after a full season. Seeding, weather etc always gets complained about every QT year so to me the 20 makes sense. It definitely shakes out the contenders after the first season.

There is no good reason. Everybody gets a medal.

20 teams in division one the first year of select creates as others have stated “ complete ass woopens” if you look at past results #15 and up have horrible seasons. The top 13 may change a little but not enough to justify 20 teams.

A solution might be division one 9,10 play division two 1,2 play-off. Division two 9,10 play Division three 1,2 play-off. Division three 9,10 play re-qualifier.

I believe you're proposing a relegation/promotion play-off.  If so, I'm a big fan of this.  It'd certainly help teams/families comprehend where they actually sit.

Of course, in the 1:1e9 chance something like this ever went into place, they'd have to lock down the whole CPP/ghost thing.  And of course, that'd never happen.  :/

LHGCL used to challenge system like the boys top two and bottom two would play challengers had to win i believe to advance. There was also only a D! and D2 at that time

True. And winners of PPL and APL could also get in via a challenge game.

Yeah wishful thinking! They would to go through the qualifier into division three.

Nope. A team I coached won PPL, challenged into D2 and eventually wound up D1. There was no D3. Before your time I guess.

Challenge system was †he norm until about 2006... 2005/2006 when academy started becoming bigger and u11 added d3. Shoot when I started playing competitive soccer d 1 and d2 then Arlington and Plano yes everything was a challenge system. I actually prefer how it used to be lol but will likely never be that way again. The first gk i trained were 95's/96's
