FBR Rankings 03/04/2019

Updated 09 FBR as of 03/04/19. Only 09 teams with 3 or more games played since 9/15/18 are included in the FBR published rankings. All games in the U9 leagues and tournaments that "publish results" are included.  

FBR ranking may look a little different, but I had to mess with the Tiers to try to get the best outcome.  Voutier has not lost but, since they are not playing any 09 Teams that are ranked in the top 10 it drops their rankings.  Voutier plays in the boys division and those games don't count towards the FBR ranking system.  Removed all Labor Day games, this shifted a few teams down and a few teams up.  

FBR09 will also include any 09 teams playing against each other in the 08 division.  As long as the teams that are playing up are not using 08 players when playing against each other 09 teams.

Also, ranking points are derived from who you play and their tier(not your own tier) and, how well the teams you play do.  FBR is presented as W/L/T not W/T/L.  This FBR is the sole representation of FBR09,  any and all complaints(and compliments) should be directed to FBR09.  These rankings use the same software and criteria as with all prior year FBRs.

Updated the tiers and also included games vs ESC, since we already have data on this team and they are a common opponent for NTX teams.

Love the FBR updates on the rankings and the conversation that it stimulates.  Obviously there is further room for interpretation.  I don’t offer this as an argument just as an alternative.  I had time and enjoy looking at stats so I went through the GotSoccer results since January 1, 2018. (yes, I did this before this morning’s updated rankings)  So, just for fun, I thought I would offer a top 15 ranking based on game results and the ol’ eyeball test, since I have seen just about every team on the list.
I did not consider out of age, out of geography games, vs. boys results, or 4 v. 4 tourneys.  I mostly weighted results of top 15 match ups unless there were unexpected losses against below top 15 teams.  We have had great competition in this age group for the past couple of years and it is fun to see the teams improve.  I probably made a mistake or two in results because I did this by hand… but here is my offering:
1) DFKV – Undefeated in the age group.  Teams are gaining though and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a blemish soon.
2) Solar South – 3 losses below ranking and their record against those teams (2-2 vs. Samba, 3-1 vs. DF Kicks SC)
3) Solar Angelone – 2 losses below ranking and their record against those teams (0-1-1 vs. Colvin, 3-1 vs. Spirit)
4) Texans Samba – 5 losses below ranking (1-2 vs. Covey, 4-1 vs. DFKicks SC, 4-1 vs. Colvin, 2-1 vs. FCD Marin)
5) Solar Colvin – 4 losses below ranking (3-1 vs. Covey, 4-3 vs. DF Kicks SC)
There is a bit of a gap here if you consider skins on the wall and consistency.  The next 3 are very close to each other:
6) DF Kicks SC – Tie-breaker over number 7 is head-to-head (4-0-1) and more signature wins than number 8.
7) Solar Covey/Grado – Tie-breaker over number 8 is more top 5 wins.
8 Texas Spirit – No losses to anyone out of the top 5 but few top 5 wins (1) Draw with both 6 & 7 in only meetings.
Another gap here when considering longevity and a history of consistent results.  Above teams have a history of playing in the top bracket in tournaments whereas most of the below teams have historically played 2nd / silver bracket.  Some questionable losses or draws are present:
9) FCD Marin – 3 losses below ranking which is minimal but only 1 win above ranking.
10) Cosmos Black – making great strides recently just need to put some top 5 wins on the board.
11) FCD Willett – another team that is putting up some quality results recently, just need a signature win or two to break the top ten.
12) Texans Salsa – 0 signature wins but competitive in this range, win over number 13.
13) Solar East Gray – Beating who they should, many competitive games in the 9-15 range.
14) Texas Lightning – little history against top ranks but putting up competitive results to deserve a spot in the top 15.
15) Texans Vazquez – Competitive in 10-15 match ups just haven’t put up a win yet.

All of that makes sense. I think the only thing not factored is the volume of games played within the 09 age group. It will be fun to watch what happens over the next few months.

I think ranks 2-5 can be a coin toss any given day.
I'm surprised to see DF Kicks SC ranked so highly...I'd put them in 8 or 9.
I would put Solar Covey/Grado at 6.
Texas Spirit 7
FCD Marin 8/9
Cosmos Black 10
Same all the way down as your rankings

Also don’t see 3 losses for Angelone against 09s, how good is this data?

So...Solar would still be #1 and Samba would still be #2. I’m sure FBR will catch in a couple of weeks. Thanks FBR!

And to answer your question, this data is only as good as the FBR sees it because “it is the sole representation of FBR09”.

How so?

Solar would be 11-2-4 and Samba would be 18-5-1; Solar would probably bump to 76pts, while Samba would drop to 72 pts, 71 at the very least. Even if they dropped to 70, Samba would still be 2nd because they have more wins. Plus, Dallas Texas comes before Solar Colvin in the alphabet. Either way, they are 2nd. If other inaccurate discoveries are made, then, perhaps, it gets shaken around a bit. For now, Solar Angelone is #1 and Samba is #2, on paper.

If I had to grade them from 1st hand experience, I’d tell you Rush is the gold standard, Solar South would be my number #2, then Angelone, then Colvin, with Samba rounding out the top 5. All five of them are legit and very good. Followed by Solar Grado, Spirit, FCD East, Kicks SC, and Cosmos Black.

Anyone know if #23 Solar West K. Williams is the same team as #75 Solar Angelone/Colvin? Looks like #75 has quite a few more games than 3: https://youthsoccerrankings.us/team.html?teamId=2811517

There are some inaccuracies, thank you for pointing that out. With 5 leagues or so to enter in and tournaments, sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming. There are also teams that don't exist anymore, but they still have 3 or more games showing up, so i have to include their Data, but i can remove them from the FBR list. If you know of any teams that no longer exist, please pm me. I am working on a few emails i received today. Also had one of the other FBRs look at it and changed some Tier vs Tier and seems to look a lot cleaner.
