‘09 North Texas Girls

I just wanted to point out that ‘09 North Texas Girls have 8 teams in the top 50 in the national rankings. No other North Texas age group in girls or boys can say this. Our ‘09 girls are representing our region quite well. I seem to remember a couple years ago when the boards were discussing if the ‘09 age group was that talented because Rush was dominating. I think this is evidence that the talent is there and showing out! Just wanted to give kudos to all our girls on all teams... they are playing against some great competition across the board! Keep it up!

The 09 group is definitely strong. Although, I didn’t realize there were 8 in the top 50. Keep representing, girls! Great job.

On the list I saw, there are 7 in the top 50 and 8(adding FC Dallas Marin at #99) in the top 100. Seems like 09G is one of the bigger and stronger age groups in NTX.

Current National Rankings....Much to be proud of NTX 09G. There are 8 teams in the top 50 from 09G, and 2 of those teams Defeeters Voutier, and Solar South Adames are in the top 10 nationally.

The ‘09 teams in South Texas are about a year behind the North Texas teams. I assume they will catch up eventually.

There are a couple of good teams from Houston. I also agree that they’ll catch up eventually. As for the national rankings, there are only 11 teams in the top 100. Still, it’s impressive to see how many teams are representing NTX well.

There were 13 in the top 100 when the post was made on 3/28... now it’s 11 due to an update. After the update, there are now 15 in the top 106 so the update placed a few teams just barely outside the top 100.

The point is, as you said, NTX is representing well.

This database over samples NTX at the 09 level because it is not complete nationally.  If you look at the number of teams in the national database at each age you will see the 09s are about half the size of the others (2003, 3359, 4348, 3913, 3851 for 09, 08,07, 06, 05 girls respectively).  Now looking at the number of NTX teams at each age you get 229, 203, 234, 160, 152 or 11.4%, 6.0%, 5.4%, 4.1%, 3.9%.  Basically all of the 09 NTX teams are counted but there are many, many teams from other areas to be added.

This means the 09s SHOULD have more teams in the Top 100 than the other NTX age groups.  However, if you use an equivalent tier size based on percentile (say 5% which equates to the top 100 for the 09s) you actually find the 09s have FEWER top tier teams than the 08s, 07s, or 06s (11, 15, 16, 10 ,12).  From this I would say the 09s are shaping up to be a normal NTX group.

However, if you compare the relative size of the % of NTX in the top tier to the % of NTX in the entire national database you can see a true measure of the relative strength of the group.  For example, if a group is 10% of the population you would expect that group to have 10% of the top tier.  For the NTX teams this ratio is 11.0/11.4, 8.9/6.0, 7.4/5.4, 5.1/4.1, 6.2/3.9 (again 09-05's).  Actually what you see is the 09 group is the only NTX group (of the ones I analyzed) that is currently underperforming relative to their relative size of the database.

The moral of the story is the youth soccer rankings are not complete at the national level for the 09s and should be used at you own risk beyond comparing NTX teams.  I am sure come next Fall/Winter the 09 database will fill out and the NTX 09s will look like a normal NTX group.

Not fair! Every age group EVER thinks their group is SPECIAL! They usually don't find out the truth for a few more years.

WOW! I have no words. I still think the 09’s is a very special group. They represented NTX well last year at the SuperCopa.

I wasn’t saying the ‘09s were the best age group... just pointing out that they are representing well when others doubted them. Apparently those doubters are still out there. The ‘09 girls will keep putting in that work to prove them wrong!
