Does this team provide a more direct path to DA than, say, the new DPL (which is directly affiliated with DA)?

Great question.

It absolutely does, since there are already more kids on that roster than can play, so if you are a new kid you may not get a look. However, if you DD is wanting a chance to step up perhaps for the first time or is unhappy where they are, then this is an open door. Sometimes a different environment is all a girl needs to take that next step. We will be working directly with Keri.

We coach DPL/DA2 at a different age level so are intimately involved with the program.

Dodson coached at Solar?

Per DPL  - "The Development Player League (DPL) is designed to expand the Girls Development Academy (DA) player pool for participating clubs.  The DPL provides a clear pathway for players who show the potential to make the jump to the DA level of play."

It sounds like maybe the path isn't so clear at FC Dallas.

Between this team and DPL (likely 2 DPL teams at FCD given the ECNL situation) being sold as the best pathway to DA . . . apparently at least 3 teams and 60 girls will be on the most direct path to DA at FCD?

I'm sorry I wasn't clear, but no reason to come on my thread and be snarky. Dean and I have a team that will play NPL and work closely with the DPL squad that Keri coaches. If you don't like that, then no big deal but please move along. I was in no way trying to mislead anyone. I have a good reputation with parents because I do not play games and never have. I am very excited about this opportunity at FCD because I love it when kids get a chance to hear a different voice and excel. Some kids do great in a very athletic system, some do great in a more possession-based system, some just need to be encouraged. I think FCD understands the pathway and has several different appropriate levels of entry.

Coach Ron is EXCELLENT with the girls. He is both technical and tactical and explains the "why". He has worked with my 05 daughter, and we both think very highly of Coach Ron.

Wow, what kind words. Thank you. It is a cliche but I so dig the lightbulb moments with the kids, and praising them when they "get it".

I don't want to publicly talk about my old groups because I still love everyone at Solar I worked with and have tremendous respect for those guys. It isn't a secret but the last thing I want to do is take anything away from my dear friends over there.

How many 05 NPL teams will FCD have? Just the two currently recruiting?

The other, from I understand, is FCD West. But I haven't spoken directly to Chris yet. I could be wrong. I've been busy! :-)

Just an E which doesn’t exist anymore - actually been working through the new curriculum online. The material is really pretty good. I am a huge fan of Spielverlagerung for modern tactical theory, analysis and coaching theory. I like Wayne Larson and the 3four3 guys as well and have done their coaching classes.

I’ve coached in total 10 years in soccer and 5 as a licensed coach. The guys who have had the biggest influence on me are Dave Kunitz, Jay Dane, Alex Schindler, Giovan Claros, Derek Missimo, and Charles Byars.

I have also been impressed with Stuart Hilton and Dean Robertson - the latter of whom I am honored to be working with now.
