Access to Jr. NPL opportunities
Jr. NPL friendlies will allow our staff the opportunity to affect the players development cycle in the earlier stages rather than waiting until the U-13 age group. Jr. NPL will serve two purposes:
(1.) Player Development - Players should be given the knowledge of roles within our system based upon the USSF numbering system. Technical development of the player should be apart of every training session and game. (Mastery of the Ball, Shielding Technique, 1v1 defending techniques etc.)
(2.) System of Play: Provide a functional system of play from U-5 to U-12 that naturally transitions to the system of play our NPL U-13 and older teams are currently playing. Therefore, increasing our ability to improve our depth at every roster spot for our older teams.
Jr. NPL would strictly serve as development program in which we can filter our elite academy players through to the Senior NPL teams in their respective age groups once they enter the U-13 competitive level. Wins/Losses shouldn't matter in these games. The emphasis should be on "player development" for the NPL program between U13 & U19.
About National Premier Leagues
The NPL is a national competition platform sanctioned by US Club Soccer created to elevate and change the competitive youth soccer landscape by:
Extending developmental principles espoused by U.S. Soccer into more age groups and clubs
Linking competition with player development and identification platforms
Providing meaningful weekly competition culminating in the NPL Finals
NPLs are leagues unified under one national competition platform and based on a common technical framework. More specifically, the NPL provides a platform:
Focused on long-term player development for the country’s top soccer clubs
Allowing consistent, meaningful high-level games appropriately scheduled with higher training-to-game ratios to eliminate calendar congestion
Integrated with the id² Program, which includes Player Development Programs (PDPs) in select local markets
That works closely with U.S. Soccer staff regarding player identification, and player and coach development
Designed and structured by the clubs, based on the needs of the clubs
that provides an avenue for qualification for the NPL Finals and Elite National Premier League
