We have seen the DA give U12 back to the clubs, I wonder if something similar will follow for Classic league. I would love it if Rush, Solar South, Solar Angelone and two or three other teams put together their own league and played each other 3 or four times. You could pull that off for a fraction of the cost and the players would get much more out of it.

We will have to agree to disagree on that one. To segregate 4 or 5 teams before they have even played a select game yet seems short-sighted. Let's see what teams show up intact (or depleted) and see how the first year goes.

Most rational thing anyone has said on this post. The lakehighlands league that we all just played in was mostly a waste for the top 6 teams. Lakehighlands is going to have to drop from 20 to 10 teams if they want to keep drawing top teams in. If they cannot provide a competitive environment the top teams will stray and find what they need elsewhere.

I can see why Rush would want to play boys. Only a small handful of teams can even pose a challenge to them. But I can also see how the boys league wouldn’t allow it. That’s one less boys team that wouldn’t get to qualify and seems like it could be precedent setting for other girl teams. It would probably make more sense for them to play up in the 2008s, but without a bye they would have to start D2.

Boys play different when they vs girls

First, there is no guarantee they are going to qualify, so there is certainly a risk factor involved.  

I think Girls Classic league has done this to themselves with their “not allowed to play up” rule during the first year of Classic league.  Our leadership must start getting more creative in advancing the development of the players.  This might be a wake up call for them.  

On the flip side, I wonder if Solar, Texans, Sting, etc would even let one of their teams do this, since they are essentially giving up a bye for the club.

This is not the first top girls team to skip Lake Highlands. The clubs you mention have already done it.
The LH bye is not worth what it used to be.

This age group goes well beyond the top 5. There is Rush, then #2 through #10 maybe even #12, then everyone else. I can’t be the only one to think this. Spirit Khoury, D’Feeters Kicks Bones, Solar East, Solar Grado, Cosmos, FCD Lovegrove and several other top teams are not top 5....

Aside from a few potential fluffers, I would think D1 should be pretty strong competition.

When you water down the soccer w too many leagues and weaker teams what are you going to do to stop anything. They are a registered team and you cant segregate based on sex. When are we going to start seeing a new section on the forum to represent this new format of coed leagues. Not including the good independant teams.

Yes too many leagues! Why do we need leagues like U90 Texas Clubs League, and the PIT league?

If these girls teams dont qualify will the play in Plano boys league?

How are the top 09 Plano boys league teams compared to LH Girls Classic League teams?
If the same or slightly better, would they be able or want to play 08 Plano boys?

Where else would they play to find good competition? Are they going to juat train and be scattered on the other teams and do just tournaments? At least in Plano they boys dual roster and help those teams and get extra.  You are not going to see a big drop off between D3 and Plano D1.

It's a win win scenario.

Certain age, boys get too physical when they lack skill and control. Girls get hurt.

I will be curious of how many teams start figuring out the fountain of youth is close by.
