With so many top 09 teams playing up to 11 v 11, it looks like a lot of openings in D-1 LHGC for this fall. And will some of those 09 teams get the D-1 slots of their club in the 08 league?

I think that you said the same thing. top 09 teams playing up to 11 v 11 (taking the D-1 slots of their club in the 08 league) that is the only way that they could move up in play 11 v 11 in GCL.

I'm confused. Teams moving out of 09 D1 to play 11v11 open up spots for other 09 teams within their club to take. The clubs can assign teams to their open spots as they please.

Yes the bye stays with the club unless a team leaves the club and takes 75% of the roster goes with them. So the club can put whatever team they want in the bye.
