CIRO MARTINEZ – Coach (Andromeda 02G Navy)
Mission Statement: To develop a child as a player and as a person to respect the game and what comes with it.
Soccer Coaching Experience: USSF National "A" licensed coach (active), USSF National Youth National licensed coach (license geared to younger players), NSCAA Regional Advance Diploma, Served as VP of coaches for the Plano Youth soccer association, former High School, Classic league, Collegiate, and Dallas Cup referee, NTSSA Coaches Instructor, and Olympic Development Program coach. Ciro has coached in Plano/Dallas area since 1986. He coached for the Texas Longhorns from 1994 to 2007 (ages U8B/G - U18 B/G) and currently is coaching for Andromeda Soccer club since July 1, 2007.
Championships achieved: U-15B Houston International Tournament (1995), U-16B North American Memorial Day Tournament (1996), U-17B North American Memorial Day Tournament (1997), U-18B State Champions (1998), U-12G North American Memorial Day Tournament (1998), U-16G East Texas Spirit Invitational (1999), U-16G Drew Humbert (1999), U-14G Plano Premier (2002), U-14G Zia Cup (2003), U-15B Austin United Cup (2004), U-15B Waco Spring Classic, U-16B Plano Premier (2004-5), U-17B Classic III (2005-06), U-18B Classic II (2006-07), U-13G Plano Premier (2008), U13G Cow Town, Ft Worth (2008), U-11 Plano Labor Day tournament (2008), and U-11B Plano Premier Grand (2009).
Coaching Philosophy: "I believe that what makes a player is his/her sacrifice, determination, commitment, and dedication as well as confidence, consistency, and leadership; both, on and off the soccer field. These qualities cannot be bought; we believe they can still be taught to players who have a passion for the game." We, as a team, look for players and parents that would adopt this philosophy.
Ciro holds classroom sessions to teach players as well as parents the rules of the game, technique, tactics, mental toughness, and the physical fitness that the game demands. He encourages participation and go over issues that are not clear during games and/or field practices.
Playing experience: Ciro played his youth soccer years in El Salvador. As an adult he played in Detroit, Michigan, Cleveland, OH, and in the North Texas Premier soccer association here in the Dallas area.
