Since quite a few of the top 15 04G teams played in the AFC Tournament this past weekend, how about a couple of the "in the know" people update their rankings?

Had some good results from all the Liverpool teams - Dalglish/Beardsley/Keegan, TBG, Juventus, Texas Spirit North, Texas Spirit Clark, Texans South Adames, Texans Davis, Texans North.

How about just posting a ranking of at least the top 15...20, if you can make accurate judgments?

1-4 - Rosales, Solar-Kennington, Dalglish, Rowdies - Having Seen Each of these Teams Up Close & Personal, There ISN'T Much of a Difference btwn Them...As I Said In Another Thread, Any One of these Teams Could Beat the Other, Depenedent Upon the Day...Rank 'em in Whatever Order U Wish...

5-7 - Juventus, TBG, Texas Spirit North - 2nd Tier Teams...Clearly BELOW the Elite, but Clearly BETTER than the Rest...

1. Dalglish (actually not as dominate as I would have thought but it was an adjustment for them 7 v 7)
2. DT Rosales (they may have the best forward in the 04 group)
3. DT Bennet
4. Juve Black (One tournament with two guest players doesn't earn top 3 IMO)
5. Solar Kennington (Loss of strong forward hurts this team a bit)
6. DTS (whooped by Juve, winning 2-0 on TBG till forward hurt ankle/missed rest of tourn.)
7. Odyssey (has to be one of the biggest teams in average size of girls)
8. Lady Aztecs
9. Fever Red
10. TBG Elite
11. Tx Sprirt North
12. GSSC Thunder
13. LP Keegan
14. LP Beardsley
15. LP Barnes

Everyone else...

I feel this is a very accurate list. That being said 1 and 2 are sort of in their own class. The rest of the top 10-11 are very competitive with each other with 3-5 remaining a bit dominant over the rest. 11-15 are not far behind.

No one should be offended at being anywhere in this list. This is probably top 15 out of what is likely 60+ north Texas academy teams.

With DT Rosales, are you talking about the 05 forward or did they get a new forward?

No way Juventus is a top 5 team. It shows they only beat Texas Spirit 2 to 1. That isn't the Texas Spirit North Team, that is another Texas Spirit Team that is no where near the level of Texas Spirit North. That Texas Spirit Team probably isn't even in the top 12 or 15.

Texas Spirit - Clark 04G results in their last four games (3 at Aces and final EAL game)

Defeated LP Beardsley 2-1 in 9 v.9 (#14)
Tied TBG 1-1 (#10)
Tied DT South 1-1 (#6)
Lost to Juventus Black 2-1 on a late goal (#4)

Gotta wonder what it takes to crack the top 15 on this board? Sad

Shelby, you forgot about the wind. Of course DT South was up 2-0 against TBG after 1st half....they had the 30mph wind. In the 2nd half TBG had the wind and scored a bunch. Wind was a huge factor in this tournament.

Pretty much the same deal...Juve scored both their goals when they had the wind....TBG had lots of shots in 2nd half and couldn't get one in the net. But, team with the wind definately dominated when they had the wind....do you disagree?

So Rosales didn't have a win in the silver division of 03? Must be disappointed with that but I guess the 9v9 format will be tough for them to adapt to.

Yes wind was a factor but not nearly as big a factor as losing your starting forward with a twisted ankle in the 1st half after already scoring two goals. Also, not as big a factor as halving someone who never played goalie try and fill in for 1 of the main goalies who was out sick.

You were there Mcik,. You know one of the TBG goals was a freebie when the girl with no goal experience passed the ball within 8 yards of the goal to a TBG forward on a mis-punt. Anyone who regularly plays goalie would not have made that mistake much less attempted to punt while still inside the goal.

TBG played well and their go ahead goal was on a nicely executed corner kick. Still out of 5 games with a healthy squad I am confident in saying South would get 3-4 of them. Oh and South was the only one to manage a goal against the wind.

Tx Spirit played well and their mids were strong, but they didn’t even take a single shot the entire 2nd half with South dominating in both possession and shots on goal, even without the starting forward who was injured in the TBG game earlier..

Come on Mr Rogers- stop with the excuses. Your star forward got hurt? Does she play defense also?? Our star defender got hurt in the first game in the final minute of the game and we are not posting that excuse for our showing... The South team is a good team but TBG was better for one game. And there are no freebies in 8 year old soccer Mr. Rogers.

TBG played from behind the whole tourney. We were 0-1 in our first game against a very tough Spirit team. And came back to tie. We were down 0-2 against a good South team and came back to win it. We were down 0-2 against Juve and the soccer gods were not on our side.

In our game against Juve, they had 4-5 scoring chances and converted 2. TBG had 7-8 chances and could not convert. Juve won it and thats that.

So lick your wounds Mr. Rogers and hit the practice field.

You’re taking my post out of context. I am not complaining about the tournament results. We are talking about rankings in this thread and I simply don’t think TBG is a better team.

Don't get confused, I am not taking anything away from TBG in this tournament. We lost, and even without the freebie goal (yes that was a freebie) it would have been at best a tie, still not a win for DTS. We still need to get better finishing the other chances we did get even without the other forward in. Also, TBG did play that last corner kick very well and it was a great shot out of reach of any 7-8 year old goalie. TBG deserved the win.

That being said, rankings and a single result are two different things.

Hopefully we will get another chance soon with a healthy roster and without the hurricane force winds.

In stating TBG's case for a high ranking- in the last 2 months time- TBG lost to Solar Kenn by 2 goals, lost to Rowdies 2-1 and beat Rowdies 2-0, tied Rosales 4-4, beat DTSouth 4-3, beat spirit north, lost to juve 2-0.

I believe Nocrying said "stop with the excuses" not "stop complaining". There is difference, and yes you were making excuses, and yes, you were downplaying TBG IMHO. Seems to be par for the course for this forum when one of the "elite" teams lose, you get an onslaught of excuses and finger pointing. Again IMHO, DTS is not as good as they (parents) think they are, healthy or not. There are many other teams that have caught up and passed them in the "rankings" since U7. I would place them in the top ten right now, but just barely. I'm sure the coach is fully aware that he has a lot of work to do to get his team ready to compete at the top level again. I can only hope their parents would learn to accept it.

Ok drama queens.

I don't think I said DTS was top 3 or top 5 did I? You could make a case anywhere from 7-10 really.

DTS has not been ranked in top 5 in months. If anyone is upset about getting bumped from top 5 rankings it would have to be TBG parents not DTS.

We have a lot of work to do to get back in top 5 for sure. Fortunately we have the right coach to do it.

didn't see their games but the wind was a cross wind not end to end. Did it affect the shots? yes. Other than that I don't really think it mattered too much. I definitely expected a stronger showing from south. Maybe it was inguries. Maybe the other teams are stronger than they thought. Who knows but I am sure we will see them in another tournament or they will stop playing out in the middle of nowhere and play in one of the majoy leagues.
