Fever United '02 White-Changes
Fever United '02 White-Changes
Career Overview
A powerful left footed player with plenty of international and domestic professional experience, Jose Luis possesses a thunderous left foot, which made him one of the most feared set piece specialists in Major League Soccer. Equally adept at left back of left midfield, Jose exercises a fantastic understanding of the game, with an uncanny ability to read and anticipate plays and a physical edge to match. Standing 6’1, he boasts a tremendous aerial game and fantastic foot skills as well. With over 150 top flight professional games under his belt, fans became accustomed to Jose’s deadly strikes from long range, as well as his solid defensive play. A recipient of many individual honors at the team and league level, Jose is ready and eager to continue his career overseas.
During his absence from MLS and the US soccer radar, Burciaga has never let his frustrations with his career interfere with his community involvement. He was MLS’ Humanitarian of the Year in 2008 and has grown his youth soccer club, Wizards FC into 20 teams with between 400 and 500 players hailing from his old neighborhood and similar backgrounds. “When I’m done playing, youth is where I want to be,” Burciaga said. “Just helping kids reach their potential and reach their goals, whatever those may be at the time. I think they can see that if I could do it, they can do it. . It’s just a matter of getting those messages across to them.”
