Annual PPL Sucks Thread

I know why the spring season is so compacted - but it's more like a tournament than a league. Many teams have 4 games in the first 8 days (per original schedule), although the rainouts took care of that this weekend.

Not to mention playing last weekend in the cold and wind chill (saw a few of the PPL directors hanging out in the offices by the concessions - pansies!)

What other options are there? Any other leagues that don't suck as much as PPL?

Is LHGCL as bad from a schedule standpoint?

Rant over, I don't feel better, never really felt that bad to begin with...

The thing that bugs me about PPL is keeping up with the scores. There are still 5 games unposted from 9 days ago.

Yes, my dd's LHGCL team has 5 games scheduled in 12 days!

I'm impressed Granbury plays footy. I thought it was all inbreds trying pass junk off as antiques.
If they played the Highland Park team from ppl d2 it'd be billed as "cash vs trash".

Spring IS a compacted schedule no matter which league. The U14 and youngers play in the first half and U15+ play the second half of the season.
Rainouts have consistantly plagued the Spring season with challenges. If they don't clump them up a bit in the beginning (hoping they'll only have to reschedule a game or 2), then you may end up with weeks of non-play and several back-back games at the end (including double headers on Sundays).
Plano has fantastic fields (especially Russell Creek), lots of parking, clean bathrooms and covered seating. I'd almost be willing to throw a QT game just to assure a PPL year ( almost )

The Non-posting of scores is not a Plano problem. It's a problem with both teams not turning in their Game Report. Most league directors won't post the scores until both teams turn them in. Last year they gave us a 48 hour window to either turn them in or receive a 0-3 Loss. I thought that was brilliant!

Supposedly, there is 24 hour rule. on the form it states:

THIS REPORT IS DUE 24 HOURS AFTER THE COMPLETION OF YOUR GAME
KEEP ORIGINAL GAME REPORT IN YOUR FILES - SEND AS A WORD ATTACHMENT
DO NOT SEND A SCAN

I say punish the teams not turning in reports. You'll get their attention real quick. if both didn't turn it in assume 0-0 result. if one didn't turn it in, give them the loss. The Manager will either get their act together or the team will find someone else.

PPL stop being a pansy about enforcing your own rules. Oh, and make sure all field lights are on in time for your games.
